Guten Tag

Hello,
I found your forum while searching for articles about the 89th Infantry Division, that was in Thuringia/Germany in April 1945, exactly in Eisenach/Gotha/Ohrdruf! I live nearby & I'm interested in the history! One member wrote a article in your archived forum!
If you have questions, feel free to ask!

39. LilSol

6. No, this was the late 80's. My German teacher even then was pretty elderly.

He was a lot of fun as a teacher. He would tell jokes in German and see who understood them enough to laugh. I got lots of practice for my German when I was stationed there in the Army. I loved it there, and I can't wait to go back someday.

40. The Wall came down two days before I arrived in country in 1989.

It gave me the opportunity to see the East before the official reunification.

Here's a pic of me at a portion of the old border fence not far from Coburg:

This would be around June or July of 1990.
