Instructions suggest I should introduce myself. OK, let's see how well I do, "introducing" my digital self to other digital selves. (Kind of dubious, by the way, of the value of this. Not sure that interaction on topics depends on whether or not I'm Kosher, but we'll see.)
Anyway, I'm a past 55, female, longtime political junkie. That's the relevant stuff for DU. I'm also a former college English professsor, a published novelist and essayist, a business isue ghostwriter, editor, researcher, mother, grandmother, dog lover, tennis player, bridge player --see, here's the part that makes me wonder where the Facebook distinctions occur. I don't think that I can be boxed or profiled. But then everybody thinks that.
I'm deeply interest and invested in issues regarding government and the future, or not, of capitalism. Not sure how knowing any of this other stuff matters, but will try to be polite and conventional. (Up to a point.) Been lurking here practically forever. Would like to participate if I have anything to offer.

(149,614 posts)I like your username; it's clever!
I think you have much to offer. Your background will prove useful, as I suspect you'll discover before too long.
Come on in and make yourself at home...This is a good place.

(5,649 posts)Everyone has something to offer!! In addition to the main forums, there are lots of groups that may fit your interest as well. I always feel like I'm not really be boxed... I believe most people actually aren't able to be boxed. We are all so unique in one way or another that it's a disservice to decide that they are "just like this".
(I'm an analyst, a mother, a grandmother and a dog lover, too! So we share a cubby hole or two!).
Try the Pets group - lots of animal lovers of all stripes there and some of the cutest pictures EVER.

(50,332 posts)I am glad you decided to become active and join DU. You already know, having lurked for a time, it can be rough and tumble, sweet and caring, funny as hell and most important, to me anyway, very informative on a myriad of subjects.

(10 posts)...the fact that DU threads have no fixed subject line.
That is, the title can be changed by the next poster,
as I just did. This is a good thing?
I just stumbled onto DU by seeing a reference to it
in a blog posting. How does it compare to the Usenet
newsgroups? Anybody remember the Usenet newsgroups?
