And I have to say I agree, Art is still a powerful medium, but older art was even more powerful--and depicting the shame of a women over her nude body while the male is not shamed---I bet there are some interesting essays on that

And I pointed out elsewhere, an art historian in a recently published book, referred to the pose in Botticelli's Birth of Venus as "her hand covering les belles choses! I had never, ever heard that one before, in that context! I wonder if he invented it just to get away from the awful venus pudica...

I've seen this my entire life and wasn't aware there was a word for it-- or perhaps I'd forgotten, if it was It a long ago class.

I was thinking of the impact it must have had--art reflecting life right? Then life reflecting art. A vicious circle that can be.
