Comparing now to 2008, Meghan McCain said on MSNBC: "This time around, we're living in scarier times ... ."
I'm sure there are lots of posts about how Republicans use fear, but I find this statement to be completely absurd. I remember four years ago: banks failed, markets collapsed, global trade nearly came to a stand-still, suicides were up, universities began shuttering their doors, hundreds of thousands lost their jobs each month, ... . Is any of that happening now? How could her statement have gone unchallenged?

(24,412 posts)Things are far from ideal but where's the failure as far as President Obama is concerned? The economy is recovering, albeit slowly, the previous wars are being rolled up, we have new consumer and health insurance protections. The only things I really worry about are Republicans continuing to muck around with the economy, gutting our new protections, and us getting dragged into an unnecessary and messy conflict with Iran, all of which are near certainties under a Romney/Ryan WH and (likely) Republican-controlled Congress.

(5,842 posts)That would reduce her media exposure by about 50 to 70 percent. FOX ain't going to book her and the only other shows I ever hear of her appearing on with any frequency are The View and Anderson Cooper's program.
The sooner the media realizes her "new Republican" bit is BS the sooner she'll be back to being a non-entity.
