Related: About this forumRon Paul: I don't fully endorse Romney
8/26/12
Mr. Paul, in an interview, said convention planners had offered him an opportunity to speak under two conditions: that he deliver remarks vetted by the Romney campaign, and that he give a full-fledged endorsement of Mr. Romney. He declined.
It wouldnt be my speech, Mr. Paul said. That would undo everything Ive done in the last 30 years. I dont fully endorse him for president.

(4,551 posts)It's important to follow the Ron Paul story because hopefully if Ron Paul isn't getting behind Romney 100%, it will mean fewer Paul voters turn out for Romney in November.
As I said, I'm just sayin'. Ron Paul is a cult and his followers remind me of Larouchies.

(12 posts)I expect a full blown scene since this is more than likely Ron Paul's last hurrah in public life. Paulbots at the very least will bang the drums, howl at the moon, and gnash their teeth at the GOP convention as their favorite little squeaky voiced, misanthropic, garden gnome rounds out a career of being the designated crackpot political gadfly.

(8,359 posts)I still see a large number of Paul supporters. Some have challenged the media to release polls of who actual voters wanted as the nominee because they feel like the "game was rigged".
It seems even Paul still doesn't trust the GOP, and won't allow them to silence him. I want all of his supporters to hear about this so they can see that their party has been bought and doesn't represent them.

(37 posts)After all, Paul himself was the LP candidate in 1988. What has changed, Mr. Paul?

(611 posts)"In an interview with the New York Times, Ron Paul details the ask from GOP officials in return for a convention speaking slot, and explains why he declined."
Either there's something deeply wrong with the structure of this sentence, or they changed the English language while I was napping. Umm.

(4,551 posts)It's a weird sentence, but I don't think it's a typo. I think the 'ask' refers to Paul being asked to endorse Romney. They are saying that this interview provides details about Ron Paul being 'asked' to endorse Romney.

(611 posts)Can we just start verbing all the nouns, now? (See, I'm doing it already....)
Or, no. Waitasec. That would be... nouning the verb. Umm.
I guess I'm just easily confused and moderately grumpy after a nap. Need more coffee.

(1,250 posts)"I don't fully endorse Romney."
Is that like being "just a little bit pregnant" or your car being "just a little bit cranked"?
Some things ARE Black & White. Some things ARE Binary. Off & On. 0 & 1. Left & Right. Up & Down. Forward & Backward.
Sometimes there AIN'T no Gray Area to hide in.
Ron Paul is a joke but I thought AT LEAST he would challenge Romney at the convention.
His followers would follow him down the Grand Canyon & I bet they don't realize the impact of his waffling statement.
The Republican Party got Ron Paul SHOOK. He's scared of pissing them off.
Either say DO endorse him or say you DON'T. There's no such thing as "I don't fully endorse him".
