This is my big worry about Romney: we know that security minded voters are being

manipulated to think Obama is the insecure choice where they can? Vs. Romney the secure choice? So far Obama has bashed Romney on Bain so Romney could not get a toehold on that as a secure thing he offers (business acumen) . Running the Olympics doesn't work because that was big government. Running on being governor of Mass. isn't going to work because it shows Romney to be a flip flopper. Obama owns foreign policy and keeping America secure because of bin Laden and withdrawing from Iraq. All romney has is the economy and lack of jobs with some vague promise in the future that his policies (with no details so they can be projected) will result in more jobs. That's not a strong position to be in if you are trying to paint yourself as the secure choice. The GOP will never give out details. How will they make the medicare, social security and pension meme work for them in the secure=Republican meme? They will promote the fear of bankruptcy of the programs into the future and paint themselves as the only ones who can save the system. Again their numbers are vague so they don't yet own the issue.

How would Romney convince a chunk of independents he is the security guy? By letting distrust of his income taxes fester (the issue always re-brought up every time it died by Republicans by the way) and say "this issue is about trust" (which he has already said) and then releasing the most mild and innocuous income tax returns come late October (the Romney camp has just said they would release his 2011 returns October 15). Remember Romney knew he was going to be running for President probably since well before he started in politics in 1994 so it is doubtful there is anything nefarious there. The undecideds will go from not quite trusting Romney to suddenly feeling he is a good guy overnight. People will feel secure with him. And remember there are only 800,000 independent votes on the edge in those swing states that will make the difference.

Tell me I am wrong. Tell me not to worry.

Unless there's a breakdown bigtime, Obama gets back in.

President Obama has a RECORD on security. True 'undecideds' will be looking at the day-to-day stuff, including flip-flops and stuff to be revealed about ryan, as well as recognize which campaign is truly negative, and must vote Dem; otherwise they're not truly undecided.
