Romney is the poster boy for what is wrong in America

the huge and growing wealth inequality;

the super rich investing in foreign banks and offshore accounts and not in the US;

the super rich avoiding taxes and demanding further tax cuts;

the disconnect and insensitivity of the global corporatists;

making money with money rather than producing goods as the way many get rich off the backs of others.

And I am willing to bet that come election day a huge number of those who may be sitting on the fence right now, are going to realizes this and either vote for president Obama!

The more people hear from Romney, the less they like him. This guys is far worse than McCain as far as being likable, and the things you pointed out just won't set well with anyone who has half a brain. Once Romney debates the president, it will be pretty obvious just what kind of a person he is, and who he will be working for if he, by some miracle, were to be elected. I watched him in the primaries and he was terrible. Arrogant, smug, and not at all in touch with what this country is really like, nor does he have any kind of a plan to fix it. His on big problem is a one on one debate is not going to work for him. I think he will lose his temper if the president or the moderator pushes him for "real" answers and not the BS he has been spouting since he was declared the winner in the primaries.

I also wonder if the presidents people have a few cards they have not played yet, but are holding them for later, closer to the elections. I think Mittens has a lot more skeletons in his closet than we haven't heard about yet.

As much as the media and public talk about their worst views of politicians and all the stereotypes out there of what the worst type of politician is, Romney is the actual, living embodiment of the worst of politics and the worst of America.

It's rare that you see the actual worst fears of what a politician is completely realized in way that totally fulfills the stereotype or nightmare vision of what one of these people is. This is a man who not only represents corporate power, elitism, wealth, privilege, unfettered capitalism, etc., but is practically a corporation HIMSELF.

He also confirms everyone's worst fears about the rest of what a politician is - liar, political opportunist, sell-out, no core principles, says whatever he thinks it will take to get elected.

I have loved politics since I was 8, In 2008 I felt like for almost a year all I did was lurk here, Kos and a few others, read poll number everyday. In 2012, I feel like blah this election has all the interest of a long car drive to Nana's house. Does anyone else feel like me?

Or people who work hard, people who are successful, etc. We admire hard work and the rewards it brings. But we can tell the difference between someone who gets rich by the sweat of their own brow by creating new products and services that improves the quality of life and the guy who get rich by tripling ATM fees or outsourcing jobs to third world nations.

There needs to be a strong distinction made between the large majority of fine, upstanding businesspeople and the kind of super-greedy rich bastards who are putting up the big money for Romney. What we have now is the worst businessmen buying the cheapest politicians to write the WORST laws. The rules of the game have been defined so that every large business must become an evil cancer just to survive. What? Cancers eventually kill their hosts? That's okay with these rich bastards. They'll just move to some other country they haven't yet ruined.

Still, I'd like to see some of these idea turned into effective ads against Romney and against the neo-GOP Congress. Here's a thread I created that is intended for collecting and discussing such ideas. Bonus kudos for ads with large multiplier effects (so that Romney's black money SuperPACs would have to spend many times the money trying to offset those ads).

" the guy who get rich by tripling ATM fees or outsourcing jobs to third world nations" meaning Romney or someone else?

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/opinion/2018623566_krugman08.html

In any case, however, Romney wasn't that kind of businessman. Bain didn't build businesses; it bought and sold them. Sometimes its takeovers led to new hiring; often they led to layoffs, wage cuts and lost benefits.

On some occasions, Bain made a profit even as its takeover target was driven out of business. None of this sounds like the kind of record that should reassure American workers.

And then there's the business about outsourcing.

Two weeks ago, The Washington Post reported that Bain had invested in companies whose specialty was helping other companies move jobs overseas. The Romney campaign went ballistic, demanding — unsuccessfully — that The Post retract the report on the basis of an unconvincing "fact sheet" consisting largely of executive testimonials....More

I put Mitt in the same category as the "robber barons". His wealth doesn't bother me in the least but I do not respect the way he made his money at Bain Capital. Definition of "robber baron":a business owner or executive who acquires wealth through ethically questionable tactics." That's Mitt with Bain Capital. I believe much of his business practices at the company were not ethically sound. At that's a big problem in our society....he's only one of many, many who will do just about anything to make big bucks....maybe the practices are 'legal" but not ethical. Do I want that type of person as POTUS? Of course not. Why would I?

You put it in a nutshell. He is the type of politician and businessman that totally disgusts me. I'm hoping that that he is handed a resounding and thorough defeat in this election. The thought of him as president scares the hell out of me.

I can't agree more. I want Romney's record at Bain to be examined thoroughly. People just wont understand what he did and why he got so rich from it. He used other peoples' money to make bets and they weren't really bets for Romney because he made money no matter what. There was no risk involved, it was other peoples' money and often it was subsidized or guaranteed by the Tax Payers.

This is not what makes America great, this is a form of capitalism that twists the system in ways that boggle the mind. Romney has done nothing in his life that should have earned him $300+ Million. It's a big scam that he's ruin and it's high time we expose this type of capitalism to the public.

His money goes overseas to enrich himself and his family not create jobs in this country. Doonesbury has been
doing a series where Romney wins a prize from the Chinese for helping their economy!!
