1. Richard Haass was on GPS today.

He repeated the GOP line about increasing our oil and gas production to replace what Europe loses when they cut off Russia.

Now, I ask you, is it sensible to suck our ground dry for Europe's benefit, and leave Russia flush with fuel for later?

If we don't pick up Europe's slack, maybe the world can be turned to renewables much sooner.

3. gas flows out of all the frack sites and is burned off or wasted. The USA suppliers want to

The USA suppliers want to raise the domestic price to make more profit. Corporations have a powerful hold on domestic gas consumers. oil/gas Corps. do not want renewables here in the USA.

As far as the EU goes, they seem like a very well organized group of countries and already have surpassed the USA by far on renewable energy. I really love the way the citizens of all EU countries can travel freely, no visa visa or passports needed. http://europa.eu/index_en.htm

No one will want russias gas or oil except 3rd world countries and countries in the grip of 'for profit' Corps, like America. oil/gas is pretty much all Russia has & times are changing. Though they do have good fishing and a lot of raw forests left!

4. The XL pipeline has nothing whatever to do with LNG exports.

And the idea that we will export LNG to "replace what Europe loses when Russia cuts them off" is utterly ludicrous nonsense. We do not have the facility to liquefy natural gas for export, it will take a decade to build that ability in any meaningful capacity, and we would never be able to replace the volume one shipload at a time that Russia delivers continuously by pipeline.

5. It is the price of solar against the the price of gas and other carbon fuels.

Its a change in the world economy. Europe is winning with solar taking carbon out of the loop. US and Russia are falling behind and will pay the price. The World is actually changing to a less Carbon economy. Screw the hoarders of money.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden have a comprehensive plan to invest in alternative and renewable energy, end our addiction to foreign oil, address the global climate crisis and create millions of new jobs.

The Obama-Biden comprehensive New Energy for America plan will:
•Help create five million new jobs by strategically investing $150 billion over the next ten years to catalyze private efforts to build a clean energy future.
•Within 10 years save more oil than we currently import from the Middle East and Venezuela combined.
•Put 1 million Plug-In Hybrid cars -- cars that can get up to 150 miles per gallon -- on the road by 2015, cars that we will work to make sure are built here in America.
•Ensure 10 percent of our electricity comes from renewable sources by 2012, and 25 percent by 2025.
•Implement an economy-wide cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050.
