When called on to announce their selection for speaker, Reps. Paul Broun (R-Ga.) and Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) -- two of the House's most outspoken conservatives -- gave West as their choice.

I'm so glad that Uncle Tom is gone. What a disgrace to this country. He should be jailed.

4. he was relieved of command

When an Article 32 investigation found that West violated articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, he was relieved of command, and fined $5,000. He was allowed to retire with full benefits.

2. An interesting fact I learned yesterday

Was that the Speaker of the House wasn't required to be a member of Congress.

7. A Democrat voted for Colin Powell

Rep. Jim Cooper, D-Nashville

Guess it was a bit of a protest vote or something.....

“Never have America’s problems looked so big, and Congress looked so small. Since the Speaker does not have to be a member of the House, ... Colin Powell would be a tremendous Speaker of the House,” Cooper said in a prepared statement afterward.

“He has a proven ability to work across the aisle and has supported President Obama. He knows about reforming storied institutions like the military, and there is no institution in more dire need of reform than Congress. We need a hero now more than ever.”

6. Someone posted some comments from the Freepers yesterday. They were bemoaning the state of the

GOP, but said, Look on the bright side; Col Allen West came in 4th for the Speaker of the House job, so maybe there is still hope for us!"

4th place with 2 votes!

disappointed that they did not nominate me.

13. LOL Rep. Gomer

Now there's an endorsement

Remember Louie is the one who said this:
"I wish to God that she had had an M-4 in her office, locked up so when she heard gunfire, she pulls it out ... and takes him out and takes his head off before he can kill those precious kids."

14. This is dereliction of duty, a sneer at the populace and governing. Ethics violations, period.

They must suffer censure. These guys should be up on suspension of pay for any and all "joke voting." They should be primaried hard. I protest my hard earned tax dollars paying their salaries for joke votes.
