PLease whitesplain to me how to fight racism. Black folks never fight racism right so please tell us how to do it better in order to not hurt the feelings of people who think the rest of us are subhuman. I mean, yeah we have feelings, but we best not express ourselves because we dont have the power of numbers behind us.

Soon we will be told, lets not call it 'the back of the bus' or segregation, separate but equal sounds better and will work on white folks better.

the fact that Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia didn't vote for Hillary. Frankly, the mindset of some on DU is why black voters stay home and avoid their candidates.

Had they gotten their way, I'd have ignored the entire general and stayed home. I was so sick anyway, but I struggled out of bed for her. I would not have Done so for a non democrat

doesn't reach these people. Neither does compassion. I've tried, over many many years. They are what they are, so you may as well call a spade a spade.

I'm thinking of asking them, point blank, Do you believe the white race is superior?

And see if they can definitely say no to that. Or will they deflect? Talk about their black friend, etc?

I have a hunch they know they do believe the white race is superior and they know it is wrong and uncool now, thus the complaints about political correctness.

Also do they really believe nonwhite people have complete equality in this country now? Legally they do but as a practical matter? And if so, shouldn't they fight against racism? And to that end, SHOULD THEY HAVE NOT VOTED FOR THE ORANGE ONE!!!!!!

See I don't know how they can make excuses for that. So far it's just, "Oh I'm not racist" and "it's mean of you to suggest I might be a racist" but all the time the question is why it is OK to have someone who campaigned on that in the Oval office? Do you have a hard time wondering why POC don't feel good about that?

7. Yes, but strategy is one thing, and people suffering from the knowledge that their country could do

such a thing aren't necessarily in a strategic state of mind right now, nor one with enough room to be all Jesus'y with their abusers. I've tried to make the same point as you, but had to acknowledge that some people are just too raw, too constantly under the stress of this all, for me to come along and call them out for how they are venting their pain.

That said, recommitting to the strategy of tearing racism down, while a wholly unfair burden, still falls greatly on the backs of the most abused, because the system will use whatever it can to justify the status-quo. Shirts about "white tears" I can appreciate, especially since I understand the context of those tears being referred to, but make great fodder for calls of reverse racism by people who benefit from the messaging.

What is good, what is decent, and appeal to the better angels of people's natures, as smarmy as that sounds it won't get people on the defensive.

I fail sometimes in that regard. There were so many dogwhistles and symbolism Donald used:

- the Wall is a Symbol. It won't get "built" , but it's a symbol for isolationism and rigidity, uniformity - this is not the history of America, we're a melting pot. The American Dream is liberal in concept.

- the Mexicans are rapists / criminals. The rebuttal I get is "well he means the illegal ones" - but Let's really examine the wrongness of calling a human being "illegal" . Immigrants come here for a better way of life, to improve their circumstances. Why is this such a bad thing? Even if we want to control the immigrant flow, is it so bad "They" want to come here? "Illegal" , "alien" are terms selectively used to dehumanize and isolate groups.

- Judge can't adjudicate my case because he's of mexican origin - This is "textbook" racism. Trump's habit of personally attacking decent Americans will set the tone of his presidency. This is why so many Americans are afraid- who does this language embolden?

- Sexism. Disrespecting women who challenge you by shaming their looks is dumb, shameless. He isn't being some hero for the anti-pc movement by doing this, he's simply being a jackass. That he's not aware of it or thinks nothing of it speaks volumes.

- Islamophobia; I'm not so naive I'm unable to recognize culture clash, but denigrating an entire group of people because of their beliefs? Not all beliefs are equal, not all beliefs are to be respected, but to castigate almost a billion people on the planet with one brush? These are human beings, some flawed, some misguided, some are reformers, some are activists, some just want to get on with their lives- dehumanizing them erodes our own moral code and the beliefs we stand for, our ideas of who and what we could be in the West , which is all centered on the right to self determination.

To get into a non-defensive frame of mind to explain these things to a Trump supporter who is using motivated reasoning, who is deeply biased, is a challenge.
