The Moment You Realize Trump Finally Crossed the Line

What is it going to take before someone finally says "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!"?

From Esquire;

"OK, is hinting that maybe your political opponent should get shot The Line?

If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know.

Is that The Line?

You know, The Line, the one that He, Trump has to cross before the entire Republican Party, not to mention a good portion of the human race, finds him too revolting for their delicate stomachs? What say you, Paul Ryan? Is that the line? John McCain? Mitch McConnell? All you clowns in the tricorns and the Watering The Tree Of Liberty tank tops? What say you all? Do you stand by this?

How about the elite political press? Is this enough to push you over the line to admitting every day in your coverage that this is not a normal election because the Republican Party has nominated a public sociopath for President of the United States? Once, while contemplating the re-election of Richard Nixon, the late Dr. Thompson once wrote this, and it might be the best single paragraph of political journalism anyone ever wrote:

This may be the year when we finally come face to face with ourselves; finally just lay back and say it—that we are really just a nation of 220 million used car salesmen with all the money we need to buy guns, and no qualms at all about killing anybody else in the world who tries to make us uncomfortable. The tragedy of all this is that George McGovern, for all his mistakes… understands what a fantastic monument to all the best instincts of the human race this country might have been, if we could have kept it out of the hands of greedy little hustlers like Richard Nixon. McGovern made some stupid mistakes, but in context they seem almost frivolous compared to the things Richard Nixon does every day of his life, on purpose as a matter of policy and a perfect expression of everything he stands for. Jesus! Where will it end? How low do you have to stoop in this country to be President?

What he said on Tuesday is something Donald Trump does every day of his life, on purpose, as a matter of policy and a perfect expression of everything he stands for. It seems one could stoop even lower than Nixon to be president.

If that isn’t The Line, then what in the hell is The Line? Actually doing it?

as a "joke" or yet another "misunderstanding."

But, at the same time, I don't want him disqualified already because, as many others have argued here, he is sinking the GOP's fate to the bottom of the mud hole and that's exactly where it belongs. At least until some moderate members of the party seize back the reins. America does benefit from two strong parties, IMO, but only when both of those parties are acting in the best interests of the citizenry.

A President isn't allowed to "walk back" a statement. Once it is out there for the world, it is permanent and has consequences. A Presidential candidate should be exhibiting the qualities necessary to do the job.

“I have to say, in terms of politics, there is (sic) few things, and I happen to think that if (the media) did even bring this up, I think it’s a good thing for me,”
Drumpf told Faux Noose.

So many reporters and editors have completely morphed from watchdogs to lapdogs during this campaign season. Only recently have some starting to regrow their incisors, but it's too little, too late. They are complicit in this mockery of our electoral process.

There is one notable exception: Charlie Pierce, the author of this piece. Thanks for posting the link here!

Let's just take that name away from them right now.
They are not pro life and never have been.
They are anti anti abortion.

They do not care about "life".
Where is the outrage ? Every major Republican should be denouncing Trump. It should have been done last night.

Sarah Palin started started this dangerous talk and and they let it go.
We Democrats have an obligation to make sure this lunatic does not get elected. And hold the Republicans accountable for this man and doing nothing to stop him.

Pro death penalty
Want to cut healthcare and food stamps for the poor
Rejects any form of gun control

But needs to save the fetus

Only person I've called 'pro-life' was some nuns I met who truly wanted to protect life including protesting wars, wanting to abolish the death penalty etc etc

while he crossed the line, it's one of his mouth breathing dimwitted minions that will be the trigger man or woman.

while I certainly don't want the orange blowhard to be president, I'm almost as scared as to what will happen when he loses.

his moronic followers will start yet another "truther" movement about how it was "impossible" for him to lose and that the election was "rigged".

what happens then when you have a huge base of marginally intelligent followers, bereft of reality and facts, who need to "vent" their anger of his loss?

it's truly fucking sick that I have to ponder such things.

28. also, what has the gop been doing to allow such a candidate to run?
Wed Aug 10, 2016, 09:24 AM
Aug 2016

Looking back we can see all the various markers that made the tRump movement what it is, yet the gop stood by and allowed it to happen.

It's not a matter of the other repub candidates playing it safe, per say, they never ever took him serious. and that is their complete and utter failure.

as I said to my GF back in October when she asked me about tRump running for president, I said, "he will be the candidate". She looked at me as if I was crazy. But I said to her, never ever underestimate the awesome power of stupidity.

the repub party seems to have cultivated this level of abject stupidity, thinking it was their strength to keep their followers loyal by keeping them ignorant.

reep, sow, rince and repeat, but at some point, someone in the repub party had to step back and see what was happening and no one said a word, because in their high minded view of the electorate, "no one could be so stupid to support tRump", but it's a statement like that that was probably uttered more than one time at various gop meetings.

And because they are so ridged in their doctrine, they weren't nimble enough to counter tRumps hollow and very shallow proclamations for his cure alls for America's "ills".

in essence, it appears that the gop painted themselves into a corner and unless they are willing to rip a hole in the wall to escape, they are going to be completely swallowed up by this bizarre ultra nationalistic movement.

And while tRump appears to be finally going down in flames, he also appears to be taking the rest of the gop with him.

They are just too stupid to parachute out of a flaming airplane.

I just hope that his supporters don't go off the deep end when he crashes and burns during a debate or is crushed in the election.

I feel almost overwhelming contempt for those who arrived at the same conclusion over a year later. They accepted the unacceptable from the very beginning and the entire way; the vast majority of those who did not changed their opinions when Trump's nomination became inevitable.

Now, we're seeing a lot of already-soaked rats jumping ship again. They are unconcerned with law, morality, ethics, responsibility, patriotism, or anything else except the now-undeniable appearance that Trump has created. But he created that appearance from the first day of his campaign, and Republicans were perfectly okay with that so long as it worked in their favor.

It's a permanent black mark on the character of ALL REPUBLICANS, FOREVER. And I'd like to thank the thousands of DUers who shared my revulsion from the outset. We can all say, "I told you so," which may actually help, for once.

Ryan, McConnell and McCain. These are supposed to be the sane Republicans. Nice, moderate guys. Yet they still support this monster. Oh, I forgot Priebus.

What would theses "gentlemen" say if Hillary Clinton called for assassination of Donald Trump, or anyone else? What would they say if she called Mexican immigrants rapists and criminals? Or called a talk show woman "fat" and "ugly"? Or said "The point is, you can never be too greedy."

I could go on, but there are really too many insane statements by Trump to list.

Good luck, GOP. You deserve Donald Trump. He is you.
