West Virginia, Texas, Arizona were major swings in the GOP direction

Also, North Dakota, South Dakota and Utah.

Will Democrats ever win West Virginia at the national level again?

Glad to see the President keep his margins in Georgia and Arkansas respectable compared to 2008.

A great night for the President, but it's clear to see where the popular vote difference between 2008 and 2012 was made up.

The South and the Plains states are pretty much gone for Dems at the Presidential level, but fortunately we're still fairly competitive in House and Senate races. To my surprise Alaska seems to have swung a little more towards Obama this year, could bode well for Begich in '14.

It's over for them, but they can't handle the truth.

because of coal/climate change on top of tobacco.

Maybe in 4-5 cycles after the economy has transitioned.

But it's worth nothing, because it's a state that Clinton won in 1992 and 1996.

Compare that to how unpopular Romney was at the end of his term in MA

Took a couple of congressional seats.
Closed the gap in both the state house and senate
Came much closer to win a US Senate race than we had in years.

Arizona went Romney for one reason - the huge Mormon population voted en-masse for one of their own.
