(5,842 posts)Depending on where you are in Fairfax County it can be blue or red and the western part of Northern Virginia is solidly red.
Unfortunately, big crowds in Northern Virginia can easily mean good things for Romney and bad things for Obama.
DCBob
(24,689 posts)but generally speaking clearly its Obama territory compared to the rest of the state.

(13,190 posts)Northern Virginia is where Obama has to run up huge margins to counteract much of the rest of the state.

(6,096 posts)main roads had been closed going out of our small suburb) and I just left my house. Voting place about 1 1/2 mile away but had to wait for about 25 cars before entering the main street.
I honestly thought one of the 2 main roads leading in and out was closed. Huge turnout.
I have a question I hope someone can answer for me. I was given a green ballot. Some people were given White ballots? Is that because we were listed as a republican or a democrat on the records?
I am assuming that is the reason, and for being a red state and Clay county going red, i did notice about a 50/50 breakdown of the color of the ballots
Can anyone answer that for me??? Thanks, I appreciate it. Tried to google it but got strange things, lol.

(879 posts)likely has multiple precincts and the color of the ballot corresponds to the particular precinct.
For example, voting at Polling Location A might have Precinct 1 and Precinct 2. So, the green ballot is for Precinct 1, and the red for Precinct 2, because some local races might be different by precinct.

(10,437 posts)N VA isn't all Dem of course, but much more so than the rest of the state.
You xould look at this anecdote and infer:
a) turnout in a heavily Dem area is massive which bodes well
b) there are insufficient machines or other obstacles to voting access in a heavily Dem area, which bodes ill.
Either way, I'm betting the more Deliverancy areas of the state have a much smoother time voting.

(3,491 posts)is the time for the shortest lines. Business people have returned to work from lunch, first shift workers are still at work and second shift workers have to be getting ready, Mom's are picking up their kids from school, but lots of the 18-21 year olds are still in school/class.
If worse comes to worse early or looks bad for later, go then.
