Myth: There isn't much racism against Obama b/c Clinton was hated too

Some people seem to think that because there was Clinton Derangement Syndrome, that Obama Derangement Syndrome is not race-related. Or that if it is, it's not important because if Obama were a white man, he'd be called other things besides "Secret Muslim", "Lazy", "UnAmerican", etc.

What these people don't get is that the overall hatred against the Democratic Party is based on race too. The GOP backlash against the Democrats started with the passage of the Civil Rights Act, and it was stoked by the Southern Strategy. Reagan Democrats were white people who decided that minorities were making up too much ground on whites, and that the Democrats were responsible for the erosion of white privilege.

Conservatives hate the likes of Bill Clinton because they see him as a race traitor. He's a White Christian Southerner, yet he works for the "other side", and that's why he draws their fury. The same goes for the likes of Al Gore and John Kerry. Both are white men, yet they did even worse among white voters than Obama. Why? Because they were viewed as white men who were on the wrong side of the tribal war.

Come on, what has Romney done to inspire this kind of support? He has no convictions, no personal narrative, and no plans. Yet he will come close to Obama's vote total.

It's because he's a white man who's playing for the white team.

And they resented the way he could be comfortable being the only white guy in the room.

There is something so wrong about the way some of these republicans look at the world. It really is so much about race and they twist themselves into pretzels arguing that it isn't.

because he wasn't a racist and was liked by blacks. It always goes back to race with Rethugs, until those old white guys (Who left the Democratic party & became Rethugs to retaliate for Dems passing the civil rights bill), die. They've hated Dem party ever since.
It's racism against Dem party, reason GOTP keep playing Southern Strategy against us.

Those Dems had left the Republican party 100 years earlier because Lincoln freed the slaves too. LOL. Racism & bigotry (The need to selfishly keep other people down) the gift that keeps on giving, heh?

I was never crazy about Clinton. He ended up being a better president than I expected.

If you've never watched The Hunting of the President you should. It covers the whole Clinton witch hunt.
