Romney Seeks More Cash
Mark Halperin: "The Romney high command did a Thursday afternoon conference call with some of their biggest donors and bundlers from around the country, urging them to push hard for the next week to bring in more dough."
"According to a source familiar with the call, Romney national finance chair Spencer Zwick and pollster Neil Newhouse gave the group a briefing on the state of the race and pressed them to raise more more more in the next week."

(19,458 posts)close to a billion so far, and it's not gotten him any advantage. People are so sick of the oversaturation of ads and mailers at this point, that it's making things worse. I have yet to witness anyone actually NOT hitting the mute button or changing the channel when political ads come on. And the trash barrels at the post office are packed with political ads.. I watch people move them straight to the garbage without even looking at them.
Tells you something when Romney has this HUGE cash advantage in those Super PACs, and still can't buy the lead.

(22,143 posts)Beyond disgraceful and beyond disgusting. Hundreds of millions just thrown away. I'm either going to throw up or start a political consulting firm.

(11,605 posts)Will he even have time to spend it? And doesn't he have over $100 million on hand?

(11,605 posts)I would not be at all surprised to see him make a late play for Pennsylvania. It's not completely out of reach, nobody has voted there yet, and even if his chances are slim, he could scare Obama into having to defend it. Bush did this with New Jersey in 2004 and I think it helped him. Yes, Kerry won NJ by 7 points, but he had to spend time and money that he wasn't planning on to defend it.

Meaning . . . "we are behind."

(10,572 posts)Its crunch time:
Email from tonight:
I'm asking you to dig a little deeper, ****:
We just found out that Mitt Romney and the Republicans outraised us in the first half of this month, putting us $45 million behind during these crucial final days.
The math here is pretty simple: With that cash advantage, they can outspend us by $4 million per day, every day, for the final 11 days.
We know what that means -- more and more misleading, negative ads trashing the President, you, me, and everything we've accomplished together over the past four years.
And we know what we have to do.
Close the gap -- chip in $15 or more now.
After a year and a half of building and fighting and getting ready for Election Day, we cannot allow ourselves to be outdone at the very end.
On November 7th, when this campaign is behind us, you'll be glad you stepped up now.
Here's the good news: Any donation you make today automatically enters you for a free trip to Chicago where you'll meet the President and have front-row tickets to his speech on Election Night.
Please make a donation right now:

(103 posts)the same thing. At this late hour, when nearly every hour of airtime has been already purchased, a crisis call for more funds would translate for me into, "Oh shit, time to grab the cash and make for the exit"
... unless, of course, they plan to "acquire" another voting machine manufacturer...
