Bill Clinton Swipes at Bernie Sanders Supporters

By David Catanese April 15, 2016, at 5:15 p.m. + More
NEW YORK CITY -- Former President Bill Clinton mused Friday that supporters of Bernie Sanders believe shooting people who work on Wall Street would help cure the economic imbalances that have animated the Vermont senator's presidential campaign.

"I think it's fine that all these young students have been so enthusiastic for her opponent and say, 'It's all good, just shoot every third person on Wall Street and everything will be fine,'" Clinton told a small afternoon audience in Washington Heights.

The throwaway line came towards the end of a wonky 30-minute presentation to a small band of Hillary Clinton supporters in a sunny courtyard of a hospital. The former president was standing in for his wife, who flew to California for a weekend campaign jaunt.

--CLIP
Clinton is clearly irritated by the perception that Sanders has won the high ground among Democratic primary voters in the battle over who is best equipped to stand up to powerful financial interests.

"Querido hermano:"

Mr. Sanders, an ardent admirer of Pope Francis, called for a return to moral principles and a more just world economy, echoing the pontiff’s words and praising his leadership during a 15-minute address before the academy, a group that examines social, economic and environmental issues and is housed within a 16th-century villa inside Vatican City.

The Vermont senator flew to Rome after debating his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in Brooklyn on Thursday night.

During his speech to the group, he also criticized the news media, which he said asks people to “accept the status quo; that a truly moral economy is beyond our reach.”

He went on to say: “Pope Francis has given the most powerful name to the predicament of modern society. He calls it the globalization of Indifference.”

that it's just some minor challenge that'll be dissolved as easily as OWS: Sanders will hand over his campaign and enough will stick around give Clinton her promised victory in November and get some planks at the convention that nobody ever reads; DWS can be replaced by Obama and the movement will break up and be easily veal-penned and coopted by the charismatic DNC head; the 60s Movement sold out, keeping both the money and the change, and this new one will, too

to these bubble-dwellers, the simple banking standards prevalent during a prosperous century, trying rather than rewarding criminals who broke the law repeatedly and wrecked the economy, and just keeping banks within the law are all so outrageous he can jokingly compare them to a bloody purge killing one-third of bankers
