Vatican Chancellor accuses Margaret Archer of LYING!!!

Oh my. It's getting nasty in the Vatican. Chancellor Sorondo is senior to Archer!

VATICAN CITY/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was invited to speak at an April 15 Vatican event by the Vatican, a senior papal official said on Friday, denying a report that Sanders had invited himself.

"I deny that. It was not that way," Monsignor Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo told Reuters in a telephone interview while he was traveling in New York. Sorondo, a close aide to Pope Francis, is chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, which is hosting the event.

He said it was his idea to invite Sanders.

A Bloomberg report quoted Margaret Archer, president of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, as saying that Sanders had broken with protocol by failing to contact her office first.

"This is not true and she knows it. I invited him with her consensus," said Sorondo, who is senior to Archer.

135. It is SO curious that there has to be another explanation...
Fri Apr 8, 2016, 08:06 PM
Apr 2016

The only thing I could come up with, in which each of their (Sanders, Sorondo, Archer) words/actions made sense was this scenario:

Sanders, as he has said, has wanted to attend the PASS conference for many years and at some point that desire came to the attention of Sorondo;

In March, Sorondo had a discussion and an agreement with Archer to invite him;

On March 30th, Sorondo sends the invite in which he mentions Archer by name as also extending the invite, but it is signed only by Sorondo.

Sanders RSVPed (date of acceptance not released) to Sorondo since that's who signed the invite;

Archer was not in the loop that Sanders had RSVPed his acceptance;

Archers nose is out of joint from hearing on the news that Sanders will be attending and when contacted by the press, tells them that Sanders didn't followed PASS protocol and RSVP to her office.

And here we are...

What is very interesting is April 15th was the nexus date for two important events: the PASS conference and Hillary's desired date for the NY Debate. All of a sudden that date was being pushed very hard by Clinton. By April 4th, Sanders clearly knew he had/or would soon be accepting the invite to the Vatican. Did Hillary somehow know too, and try to force his hand, or was all this just very coincidental?

Regardless, Sanders, who could not have made it to both his NY rally originally scheduled for the 14th, and to the conference at the Vatican on the 15th, was able to point to Hillary's insistence of an Apr 15th debate date as the reason for changing his rally to Apr 15th. He was able to make hay of her 'forcing' him to change his rally date since she was not willing to change the date for her rich-people-only fundraiser, but really he would never have been able to attend a debate on that day anyway, due the Vatican conference.

ASS is one of the Pontifical academies at the Vatican in Rome. It was established to promote the study and progress of the social sciences, primarily economics, sociology, law, and political science. Through appropriate dialogue it offers the Church elements useful to the development of its social doctrine, and it reflects on the application of that doctrine in contemporary society. PASS, which is autonomous, maintains a close relationship with the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.[1]

Edmond Malinvaud was the first president of the academy (1994-2004). In 2014 Pope Francis appointed Professor Margaret Archerpresident. PASS is headquartered in theCasina Pio IV, together with its sister academy the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, at the heart of the Vatican Gardens. The Chancellor of both academies is currently Msgr. Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo.

Papal official denies report Sanders invited himself to Vatican

From the Academy's website:

The Academy is headed by a President, who acts with the assistance of the Council of the Academy, which meets at least twice a year. The President is appointed by the Supreme Pontiff, to whom he or she reports directly, and is assisted by the Chancellor.

Papal official denies report Sanders invited himself to Vatican

Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo (born 8 September 1942) is an Argentine Catholic bishop and the current Chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences. Having issued a long set of various publications in the sciences, he's also earned several honors such as the Légion d’Honneur of France in 2000.

I've done grant writing and development work.

One job was to raise funds for a new addition on a women's shelter. I had an appointment with a local casino to pitch the project but I was a late hire and didn't know every last detail yet on the building permit status, codes etc.

So even though I was the development director, my boss - the shelter director - came with me to assist.

Its pretty common in non-profits for "a boss" like a BOD membee to assist in projects. They're still the boss even though I may be the boss in my department.

First, it spreads the word far and wide that yes, he's been invited to the Vatican.

And it exposes just how many lies the opposition is ready to put out there to bring him down. It also exposes the names of the shoddy journalists who were willing to run with a liar named Margaret Archer without any fact-checking with the Vatican.

If anything, it's an expose of the powerful forces arrayed against him.

113. The Scorpion and the Frog
Fri Apr 8, 2016, 04:55 PM
Apr 2016

A fable:

One day, a scorpion looked around at the mountain where she lived and decided that she wanted a change. So she set out on a journey through the forests and hills. She climbed over rocks and under vines and kept going until she reached a river.

The river was wide and swift, and the scorpion stopped to reconsider the situation. She couldn't see any way across, so she ran upriver and then checked downriver, all the while thinking that she might have to turn back.

Suddenly, she saw a frog sitting in the rushes by the bank of the stream on the other side of the river. She decided to ask the frog for help getting across the stream.

"Hellooo Mr. Frog!" called the scorpion across the water, "Would you be so kind as to give me a ride on your back across the river?"

"Well now, Ms. Scorpion! How do I know that if I try to help you, you wont try to kill me?" asked the frog hesitantly.

"Because," the scorpion replied, "If I try to kill you, then I would die too, for you see I cannot swim!"

Now this seemed to make sense to the frog. But he asked. "What about when I get close to the bank? You could still try to kill me and get back to the shore!"

"This is true," agreed the scorpion, "But then I wouldn't be able to get to the other side of the river!"

"Alright then...how do I know you wont just wait till we get to the other side and THEN kill me?" said the frog.

"Ahh...," crooned the scorpion, "Because you see, once you've taken me to the other side of this river, I will be so grateful for your help, that it would hardly be fair to reward you with death, now would it?!"

So the frog agreed to take the scorpion across the river. He swam over to the bank and settled himself near the mud to pick up his passenger. The scorpion crawled onto the frog's back, her sharp claws prickling into the frog's soft hide, and the frog slid into the river. The muddy water swirled around them, but the frog stayed near the surface so the scorpion would not drown. He kicked strongly through the first half of the stream, his flippers paddling wildly against the current.

Halfway across the river, the frog suddenly felt a sharp sting in his back and, out of the corner of his eye, saw the scorpion remove her stinger from the frog's back. A deadening numbness began to creep into his limbs.

"You fool!" croaked the frog, "Now we shall both die! Why on earth did you do that?"

The scorpion shrugged, and did a little jig on the drownings frog's back.

"I could not help myself. It is my nature."

Then they both sank into the muddy waters of the swiftly flowing river.

I've heard DUers ask that if Hillary is so confident of winning, why is she running such a sleazy campaign?

As the scorpion said - "I could not help myself. It is my nature."

of the Academy. Yes, he is a bishop with the title Titular Bishop of Vescovio and informally addressed as "monsignor". They are essentially equals within the academy. However, being clergy and a bishop, he would never "report" to a lay person - only to the Pope in his position as a bishop.

I'm sure either Archer or Coronado could issue an invitation and it should not be controversial. Archer appears to have gotten her feathers ruffled. Surprise, the Vatican is political as well as religious.
