Helen Purcell, Maricopa County's recorder and election director, shows no signs of slowing down - even in an off-election year. Managing her time is Purcell's biggest challenge, as she oversees recording 1 million documents annually and modernizing the state's largest election department. In her fifth term of office, Purcell also serves on a committee drafting new standards for voting systems throughout the United States and on the board of the National Association of Counties, among other organizations. "It's easier now that my family is grown," she says, the mother of two and grandmother of four. Her husband Joe, who Purcell says gave her the valued advice of being honest, consistent and to "learn everything you can," passed away several years ago after 43 years of marriage. …

Weird. Conflicting info, for sure. Not sure if the above info is legit or not, but the link is legitimate.

Strange coincidence, if this is all some information snafu!

3. How is that conflicting information?

4. The AZ Times article that I posted

mentions her husband was the late Joe Purcell and that they had two children. That fits the profile of Helen Purcell from Arkansas.

However, the info that you posted about that Helen Purcell is different information. Most likely a different person.

5. Different perhaps, but I see no conflict. There could be a Joe Purcell unconnected to Arkansas.

Consider that the AZ Times says her husband passed away several years prior (to 2007). But Joe Edward Purcell of Arkansas died in 1987.

Also, how could she be a Phoenix resident since 1964 while the wife of Joe Purcell when he was in Arkansas?

More likely is she is the wife of Joe R. Purcell, the city attorney of Phoenix who died in 2002: http://law.justia.com/cases/arizona/supreme-court/1971/10352-0.html http://www.ancientfaces.com/person/joe-r-purcell/81195508

Then there's this from a newspaper of Helen announcing her run for recorder:

With Purcell on Monday was her husband, Joe Purcell, former Phoenix City Attorney, and a son, Mark, a vice president in an investment firm

Even if she was married to the Joe Purcell of Arkansas, he died in 1987 and that newspaper article is form 1988.
