2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDid any of you see the discussion of so called independents (8 I think) on Msnbc from Ohio?
You wanna talk about low information voters. I think five of them praised Romney's
economic plan and said they were voting for him based on his plan and the way he
took care of Mass........All four of them seemed fucking dazed. My point being; Romney
has no plan and I Do Not Believe That For A Fucking Second that these people who said
they made up their minds for Romney tonight went into the room as Independents.
My numbers on the attendees might be wrong, but I know in my heart that most
of the people in this room were not independents when they went in. Especially
the woman in the blue fucking top and the guy in the back that said he voted for Obama
last time. Fucking Liar, you could see it in his face.

(9,644 posts)on edit: and as mentioned elsewhere president Obama is 15-20% ahead of r0mnney in the polls in MA
It seems that the good people of MA do not think much of him.

"well ya, he refused to answer the question on Equal Pay for Equal Work but you know maybe he'll answer it in the next debate...for now though he has my vote" - one of the "independent" people in the focus group on MSNBC talking about Romney.
undecided voters at this point are just inherently stupid while those voting for Romney are inherently misguided.

(305 posts)They literally were the dumbest people i've ever heard.....they were not upset that Romney wouldn't support equal pay for women.....honestly this wasn't an independent group- they were people already with their minds made up....one of the guys even said that he votes Republican everytime- how is that being an independent?

(53,032 posts)Like what he did in MA matters. What about the rest of the country. Those were some dumb people, especially that woman who lives paycheck to paycheck.
Bad Thoughts
(2,524 posts)They were pro-Romney plants who lied their way onto the panel. They were armed with pro-Romney talking points. Indeed, they almost all used the same words. If they were in any way undecided, it would be because they didn't like Romney's Mormonism.

(8,791 posts)The focus group showed Obama needs to hit Romney on his record in MA. Not a lot of attention has been paid to that.
Also the point needs to be made that business experience doesn't make a successful President. The two last Presidents who were successful "businessmen" were George W Bush and Herbert Hoover.
I'd love to see Obama and the campaign hit on both points.
edit: Obama also needs to remind everyone about the women he has in his cabinet, just like Romney did.

Seriously, if you start talking with a bunch of average uninformed voters, you will feel so terrible you won't even want to vote because you realize your informed voting decision counts no more than their uninformed decision.

That actually blew me away. Other than the college student sitting in the back, the other women were unbelievably clueless. The best was when Chris Matthews asked Ron to ask them about the pay equity issue. One said Honestly I don't think he cares, but it's more about the jobs anyway. We need to get the jobs first ( That is a Republican NOT an undecided)
... But my favorite was the woman who said--to paraphrase it--Yeah He didn't answer the question but maybe he will in the next debate. Uhhhh excuse me low information voter living in the fox hole of your mind---The next debate is foreign policy.....
There was not a single person in that group that seemed to have a clue and most clearly leaned Republican. They are waiting for just a little bit more information...

(103 posts)On the ground in Ohio, you have "undecided" voters who are so overwhelmed by the Pro-Romney rah--rah's that I fear he is going to become the "default" choice. That is true in the suburbs and rural areas at least. The president's strategy isn't working there, although it may be just that they are focused on in the urban and industrial areas....
The typical "uninformed" voter at this point is only uninformed because they don't care. They don't care about PICKING the winner, they care about BACKING THE PERSON WHO THEY THINK WILL WIN.
When you drive down your street and see nothing but Romney yard signs, it sends a signal that Romney is the "safe" choice.

(3,370 posts)When I see all the Romney yard signs the only thing I think is that the owners are uninformed.
