(24,721 posts)who will be hard to stop, but he doesn't think Hillary can do it with the speech she made tonight.
zentrum
(9,865 posts)Heard an NPR commentator talking about Bernie's victory speech and how markedly generous it was to Hillary and how he spoke about the importance of having ultimate party unity. The commentator said the reason for this kind of speech was Bernie's concern that if he said anything too partisan it would hurt Democratic chances in the GE, and he cares about that even of he's not the candidate.
This reporter---was it Mara Liasson?---(no pal of the left) said that HRC in contrast gave a speech that was all about her, all about her resume. Her experience.
That's the difference right there. Bernie is always caring about the general good. The election is not about him. It's about us. She talked about how great she was. He talked about how we must protect the outcome of the coming election.
Even in triumph, there's no self indulgence in him.
What a guy!

(5,275 posts)It will not be easy but...."experts" did not see any of what has already happened happening either.
All the centrists and Hillaryites keep talking about all the super delegates she has, and a supposed lead she has in upcoming states. But....things are changing fast, nationally Bernie has moved from way down to her to tied or close to it.
Do not count out the Bern. Hillary was even more inevitable, supposedly, in 2008. The feeling I have is people are tired of lip service, they know Bernie means what says, he has been saying it for decades. He is the real deal and people sense that.
I give him a very good chance now....feel the Bern!!

(72 posts)I have never voted for a president (longer post planned to explain) because I believed there was no real difference between Rs or Ds (this election is proving this concept).
I will switch to independent after the primary. Sanders represents the first chance for necessary change since I've been eligible to not vote. The illusion of choice has been suspended!
Fuddnik
(8,846 posts)This is just the Presidential Primary. The regular primary in August is for other offices, and Alan Grayson will need your vote against New Dem (former Republican) Patrick Murphy.
And welcome to DU.

(72 posts)I don't know if I'll make it. Bummed out today, had forgotten about Super delegates bullshit...I'll go back into political hibernation if it starts to look like the fix is in for Hillary. Not to mention how the delegate count after Bernie's NH win makes me want to throw up. Not sure what I would do should the popular vote be decisive, but then set aside by any other means "legal" or otherwise. Don't want to feel like a sucker for getting back in. Thoreau's take on voting has kept me sane for 39 years.

(5,668 posts)Hillary isn't electable. Trump is not sure if anyone else on the Right is. But if Trump gets it he'll win in November over Hillary. Not Bernie. Saw 2 bumper stickers on the same car today. Bernie Sanders 2016 and Black Lives Matter. So it's kinda clear the minds are changing elsewhere down the line. Change comes from the bottom up , not the top down. If people want change in places like Ferguson (sp) they'll have to vote that way.
