Sanders sweeps Dixville Notch!

Voters in the tiny community of Dixville Notch in the first-in-the-nation primary state of New Hampshire have had their say.

And the winners are ...Ohio Gov. John Kasich on the Republican side and independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont for the Democrats. Kasich earned three votes to Donald Trump's two. Sanders swept all four Democratic votes.

That's right — there are only nine voters in Dixville, a resort area about 20 miles from the Canadian border, and the voting took all of about 30 seconds.

<snip>

Dixville Notch is one of three tiny towns, including Hart's Location and Millsfield, with fewer than 100 residents that are allowed by law to open the polls at at midnight. Polls everywhere else in the state begin opening at 6 a.m.

<snip>

If you're keeping tally, that puts Republican candidates Kasich, Trump and Cruz in a three-way tie for first place with nine votes each. Sanders has the upper hand over Clinton, 17-9.

The midnight primaries, however, are so small that they are not considered predictive of how the state's Democratic and Republican primaries will ultimately shake out.

Not so for the Dems

Interesting note - only three Dems have swept Dixville Notch - Bill Clinton, Obama, and Bernie.

Clinton and Obama only did it in their re-elections,

Not in the same way Trump or Cruz concern me, quite the opposite.

Out of all the clowns in the repug primary, he is probably the most reasonable and center-leaning, someone Who could get and maintain broad support from many moderate reps, independents and even some centrist dems.

He's not center leaning at all, but he SOUNDS that way and could be the biggest threat to our nominee in the GE.

I hope the media continues to ignore him. It could be very dangerous to us if he gets traction.

"most reasonable and center-leaning" In fact, and his record will bear me out, he is neither.

I join you in your concern, since the loonies that are leading in the polls make him not look like a disaster for this Country in comparison. The media will be EXTREMELY pro-Kasich if he gets traction, and that bothers me a lot.

Positions, history, record, etc., but the little I've seen of him on the tube, he at least appears to be more reasonable than the other clowns.

Of course, Mussolini would appear moderate compared to the current GOP field.

My father worked at the local VA hospital near Columbus OH and 30 years ago said Kasich would never be president. Apparently Kasich has/had connections to a patient there but my father did not let on what the details were. Anybody know what he could be referring to

where did THIS campaign begin? How far behind HRC was Sanders?

As an old political junkie I think they can strut if they want to, just like Jimmy Carter.
