http://www.buzzfeed.com/rosiegray/anti-obama-movie-mailed-to-1-million-ohioiansAn anti-Obama movie claiming without evidence that President Barack Obama's real father is an obscure African-American communist has been mailed to 1.5 million voters across the country, its creator told BuzzFeed Friday.
A reader in Ohio emailed this photo of his free copy of the film Dreams From My Real Father, which claims that the Chicago activist Frank Marshall Davis is actually President Obama's father. He received it in the mail this week.
The film's director and producer, Joel Gilbert, said that the film was sent out to more one million voters in Ohio; 200,000 after a mid-summer conference, and a million after that. He said that 50,000 copies had been sent to voters in Nevada and 100,000 to voters in New Hampshire.
"We're sending out bulk mailings to many states," Gilbert said. "Probably Illinois, New York, Florida, Arizona, Louisiana, we'll hit every state if we can to stimulate and force the national media to cover the story."
Gilbert declined to say how much his company, Highway 61 Entertainment, is spending to distribute the film for free, but said that the film was making a profit through online orders. He also wouldn't say how the company is funded and how they come up with the money to distribute so many free disks.
"Were a private media company, a journalistic company thats privately held and we dont disclose the nature or makeup of our finances," he said.

(827 posts)But the suggestion that Obama really was born in Hawaii and that his father was an American citizen has some conspiracy theorists upset. Birther queen Orly Taitz is troubled by the film because it undermines the theory that Obamas father had to be a U.S. citizen for him to be a natural born citizen (a qualification which would have eliminated several other presidents). WND and Corsi, wrote Taitz, are trying to kill the case by making up an American citizen father for Obama.
Who are they working for? What incentive did they get to do so? Please, tell Corsi and Farah to stop this. Enough and enough, she wrote.

(1,484 posts)It looks to me like an interested person has to mail them a request to receive the free DVD, before they will spend the money to mail it. It will be interesting to see how many people will be interested enough to shive a git.
Oh, I'm sure that Faux News will bring the producers of the DVD into their studio for an up and close personal interview conducted by Para Salin, or something, but how many people who have yet to make up their minds on how they are going to vote are going to be stupid enough to bite on this?
Even a person of casual intelligence will be asking themselves, "If the information presented in this DVD is true, then how come it has taken this long for it to have come out?"

(22,651 posts)give it away free like Mitt did with his book and so many others like Palin did with their film.
Must be why they suspend their campaigns rather than close outright..they can grab those 'donations' using the loop-hole. Buy their own books as 'give aways' and party favors.
Even worse the state probably doesn't get sales tax on the sales to political charities...could even be a loophole where the film maker gets an income tax deduction when he sells to a political 'charity'.

(536 posts)Tell the donors that each DVD cost $10 each, expenses only $1.50 (no real actors or camera, just put together stills, a couple of voiceovers), wait for people to make a request, few people care who aren't already voting for Romney, pocket the remainder. Watch Obama's Second Inauguration from a Virgin Islands resort.
I mean, how many people these days will pop a DVD in that they didn't buy and have no clue where it came from these days? Most of those will end up in the landfill or as coasters.

(870 posts)but I'm worried about this kind of campaign strategy. If 1% took the time to watch the DVD, that's 10,000 folks that could be swayed. In an election where the last vote is as important as the first, this practice sure is a scary one. Why can't the presiden'ts lawyer sue for libel if the film was really dishonest and was made with malicious intent? This isn't covered by free speech anymore!
And I am more disconcerted by the dismissive attitude of the folks around here. You gotta keep your enemy close.
