Pat Robertson: Satanic Covens Use Facebook To Curse Your Family

As someone pointed out to me earlier today - this may be the kind of post that should go in...well, a more GENERAL religious DU forum, let's say.

But having scanned some of those fora just now, they seem mostly devoted to Papal P.R. and blaming atheists for the Chapel Hill atrocity.

Pat is like the weird uncle locked in their attic. They'd like to pretend he doesn't exist at all, and they'd certainly like to pretend he isn't a TRUE CHRISTIAN. But he pops out every now and then to crap on the carpet and generally run amok.

Yes, he's a goofy Fundamentalist Asshole (tm). And he's one of the Xian religious leaders who can almost make ISIS look sane at times.

But let's not forget - this F.A. (tm) once ran for President. Of the United States:

Pat Robertson: Satanic Covens Use Facebook To Curse Your Family

Yesterday on "The 700 Club," Pat Robertson fielded a question from a viewer who wondered if she should be worried about her pregnant daughter posting fetal ultrasound photos on Facebook.

Robertson, giving an answer that sounds more like a bad sequel to "Rosemary's Baby," warned that the woman’s daughter may be setting her family up to be cursed by a Facebook-savvy satanic coven...

In a previous Facebook-related query, Robertson said he wished he could click a 'Vomit' button when he saw pictures of gay people.

would never curse me or my other FB friends. Don't panic. They don't care as much about you as you think. And if they had all those powers, I am sure that Pat Robertson would now be a toad. (I mean a REAL toad breathing through his skin.)

Crazy Christians demand equal time to show how crazy they are!

It's not surprising that Robertson, et al, would think that Satanists could influence Facebook. They are already so deeply into the supernatural ooga-booga, I'm actually surprised we don't hear this kind of goofiness more often.

AND it makes them seem so important! On the "front lines" of Christian woo-woo-wonky-woo.

I have a friend who watches ID all the time and there are all these shows about exorcising demons from houses and all that stupid crap. One thing I noticed in every instance.... the exorcist and sometimes the person in the household who REALLY believes are always up against impossible supernatural odds (you can tell the psychic is full of crap when they get all super serious and no nonsense when recounting the story) and someone's gonna be a HERO who risked...uh.... something (their credibility?) to save the day! Alleluia!!!!

If the man truly believed he will meet his maker at the end of this life, he'd stop robbing widows and consorting with murderers. I am convinced he is a true sociopath with no empathy for others whatsoever.

You know that Pat Robertson, with his weekly national TV show, Presidential campaign, and multi-million dollar infrastructure represents a small minority of extremist Christians, and is a fairly insignificant threat when compared to NEW ATHIESTS (shudder), who, with their occasional novels, twitter feeds, YouTube channels, and even LOCAL RADIO SHOWS (clutching pearls) pose a MUCH BIGGER THREAT by carrying water for Republicans, fomenting division among progressives, and generally being poopyheads who will consistently refuse to join hands and sing "Kumbaya" because they are under the delusion that religion enables fanatics like Pat Robertson, ISIS, Boko Haram, and the fuckheads who slaughtered the Charlie Hebdo staff while shoutiing, "Allahu Akbar!"

Jesus, why would we ever think that?

(For the sarcasm-impaired, religionist lurkers, and inevitable jury, please realize that this was posted in the Atheist and Agnostics safe haven with a heavy dose of Thank you for participating in the DU jury system!)

"Crap on the carpet"
and yes I'm being juvenile by laughing at the poopy word.
P.R. IS ridiculous, but he is xtian. He self identifies. He isn't my crazy old uncle that I have to rein in thankfully. But then WE aren't all reading from the same book. I know they like us to be labeled as it makes for nice tidy groups.

I don't even know what I can say anymore the PC police are arguing over the new word.

The Devil Wears Headphones: A Brief History of Backmasking

...For example, in the chapter called “Which Way Are The Eagles Flying?” Aranza condemns the southern California group as “occultic” [sic] and as “having had dealings with members of the Satanic church.” He claims their song “Hotel California,” an ode to devil worship, contains this startlingly formal backward message: “Yes, Satan organized his own religion.”

I remember seeing this "instructional video" which I think came from Pat Roberson himself....but it was a long time ago so I can't remember....

Anyway, it had this good looking long haired guy who was "cool" warning of the Satanic messages in R&R and he played some live concert video of some group (The Eagles?) backwards so you could hear the evil message!

Of course the song's lyrics backwards sounded like "Yargle mwoblab skulloarg cwabub mftjkle" (or something like that) but they told you what it really sounded like by putting the evil message at the bottom of the screen like a subtitle: "Abandon god and join Satan....it's a gas!" (or something like that).

Kinda like when they do bad translations of Bollywood songs on YouTube.
