breakthrough in understanding octopus language

Education researchers at Oregon Sea Grant's Free-Choice Learning Lab, housed at Oregon State University's Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC), have discovered a way to translate octopus gestures to human speech. This project was unveiled on April 1, 2012.

with off planet species. Once we can understand some of our own fellow species we might be on the way to understanding those who don't share a planetary reference point.

The downside is learning how they feel about the way they've been treated for all these millennia.

in that regard. However, lacking the longstanding linguistic skills as we know them might be a help rather than an hindrance with interspecies communication.

That was a good one at 1 april . I almost got into it...

But even it is not true - it would be cool to know what some of our other beings on the planet really is talking about with each other.. Octopuses are not that "stupid", and should be able to communicate both internal, but also externally if we was just able to understand them...
