I don't think she will ever make the connection between rolling in something nasty and an instant bath. She has a loopy Lab personality.

Our smaller dog does not do that. Maybe she is more bath-averse.

He'd scratch at the door and then sit there looking as black as a lab. I made the mistake of opening it the first time and he charged past me and made a bee line to roll all over my bed with a big grin on his face.

that my husband took to the doggy park. He found a pile to roll in and roll he did. Husband got him home and of course it was right upstairs to the tub, he looked happier than I ever saw that dog look.

who had an attention deficit disorder--she could never get enough attention. Her past had been insecure to say the least, and I think she had abandonment issues.

Anyway, shortly after we started letting her range freely, she got into the neighbors' cornfield just after it had been coated with liquid manure.

She came back proudly & I washed her with a brush & bucket.

Unfortunately, she liked being washed, and she's a fast learner. Hardly dry, she headed back for the cornfield.

Next time I put her on a leash & hosed her down without any fun brushing or other interaction.

This didn't break the behavior, but she was no more of a problem about it than our old dog Gus, who for some doggy reason had to go out & decorate himself a couple times a month.
