A woman wearing high-heels influences male behavior (a statistical view)

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/11/20/high-heels-more-attractive_n_6192640.html?utm_hp_ref=science

A woman tried to get strangers in the street to take part in a survey.
42% of men were willing to take part when she wore flat shoes
60% of men were willing to take part when she wore 2-inch-heels
82% of men were willing to take part when she wore 4-inch-heels

Roughly a third of the women agreed to take part in the survey, no matter what the shoes.

A woman "accidently" dropped a handkerchief and asked a man passing by to pick it up for her.
62% of men picked it up for her when she wore flat shoes
93% of men picked it up for her when she wore high heels

How many of the men were influenced by the influence of the shape of her legs caused by her shoes, and how many were influenced by their eyes being closer to the same level?

I have not read this study, but your argument comes off as special pleading.

Shape of her legs? Eyes closer to the same level? Yes, those might be arguments. I suggest that the latter has more credibility than the former. Nevertheless, I reject both of your hypotheses due to the fact that they appear to be ad hoc. Do you have any evidence other than your personal opinion?

The data may be incomplete, but your hypothesis has no data that I know of. That is a classic exemplar of special pleading.

Sorry. Not buying your argument.

Regardless, my regards.

The article says that the high heels are what causes the influence, while I suggest that it might merely be the difference in height.

Women of equal height wearing flats should have been used as a control group, and if they were as uninfluential as the shorter women wearing flats, then we would know it was the high heeled shoes. If, on the other hand, taller women in flats and shorter women made taller by high heels were equally influential than the shoes would be ruled out as the cause. The study was conducted with insufficient data.

I am 6'4" and seldom meet people of equal height. When I do, it has a considerable impact on me. Height matters.

They never seem to realize that it also means a high maintenance woman, especially with that tired old drop the hankie trick.

... would wear shoes they can't run in.

I seem to be missing whatever it is that makes uncomfortable boots and shoes attractive.
