A group of children in Tanzania who are naturally immune to malaria are helping scientists to develop a new vaccine.
US researchers have found that they produce an antibody that attacks the malaria-causing parasite.
Injecting a form of this antibody into mice protected the animals from the disease.
The team, who published their results in the journal Science, said trials in primates and humans were now needed to fully assess the vaccine's promise.

(3,557 posts)The Army gave me some quinine pills when I was deployed to Iraq and warned us that one of the side affects would be lucid dreaming. I kind of blew it off, but then I started having the craziest dreams - we all did. We were all seeing ghosts and stuff too. It was totally crazy.
As soon as I stopped taking quinine I stopped seeing ghosts. Weird.

(3,557 posts)They were the most vivid and real feeling things ever. I often times realize I'm dreaming in my dreams, but not in these ones.
This doesn't make any sense, but although I don't believe in ghosts, I'm convinced that I saw one. However, I stopped seeing ghosts as soon as I stopped taking quinine.
If I could readily get it again, I'd be all over quinine. It had one hell of an impact on me!
