(46,758 posts)I didn't confirm until the last few months that my two-decades old bout with health problems stemmed from a genetic predisposition for diabetes. I'm still at a point where I might be able to do something about it, thank God. But it would have been nice to know earlier because I could have used more support from my parents and siblings. Because they did not understood that the cause of what I was feeling was in my genes, I didn't get much sympathy and was expected to tough it out.
Now we're all crying because it's apparent that my dad has it.

...makes me wonder whether his prominent chin is a reflection of his distant Burgundian relationship to the Spanish monarchy or was it just a coincidence?
