According to Live Science analysing this study, Conservative parents will tend to select baby names with hard consonants, which tend to sound more macho, such as K, B, or D. Conversely, Progressives tend to select names with more feminine-sounding soft consonants such as (soft) C, S, M, or L.

what soap opera is being watched or which trashy books are most popular when the mom to be is at home just before her due date, too uncomfortable to move.
I don't know any other way to explain the 4 Jasons and 3 Joshuas on my block back in the 80s.

Two kids with hard consonant and traditional names. Granted, both named after beloved relatives but I also happen to like the names.
Exception to every rule, I guess.
