Ian Paisley: good riddance to a vile bigot

Obituary
Fri 12 Sep 2014, 13:58 BST
Issue No. 2420
by Simon Basketter
One of the vilest bigots these islands have produced is dead.
Ian Paisley was finally killed off by the prospect of the break up of the union next week.
Paisley lived long enough to become respectable to the establishmentbut he never stopped being poisonous.
Northern Ireland was set up by the British government as a society based on discrimination against Catholics. Bigotry is at its core.

Of the obituaries I've read, this gets to the point fastest, from a surprising source.

OP
Jesus taught us to love our enemies, do good to those who hate us, and pray for those who spitefully use us. I must admit, I know what the Christian thing to do in cases like this, but I find it hard to do. I'm half Irish.

I'll say one Glory Be for him. But no Hail Marys. He wouldn't like that.
Good on you.
