Why is that atheists on DU

are so snarky and snotty to other DUers who believe in God? I know the religious right tries to jam Christianity down their throats, but don't they know that DUers are all in this together, regardless of belief or lack thereof?

1. I stand corrected - this could have been improved.

This would be improved if you said SOME before Atheists.

This is one of the safe haven groups on DU. You're welcome to post on topic as much as you want. But not if your first two words here are "Judgemental (sic) much?" There are plenty of other groups where that's welcome but not here. Other than that, post away.

A belated welcome to DU.

That's where I got several snarky, snotty remarks. But useful to know that I can get snotty remarks here too.

4. No, you shouldn't get snotty remarks in here.

You shouldn't get them elsewhere but certainly not here.

That said, there are many antitheists = and some atheists too - who look for any opportunity to make a snide remark about religion and, often, those who believe in religion. To quote from Scripture, fuck 'em. At that point it's really not about religion at all. Personally, I don't mind rolling around in the dirt.

But here, as you know, it's a safe haven. If you are getting crap here, just let one of the hosts know.

...and as dysfunctional. Your original post touches on the fact that the two groups (i.e., the fiercely believing and the fiercely unbelieving) really do seem mirror images.

I have been reading several posts in the atheists group and I think I understand them a little. The right wing Christians don't hold a monopoly on shoving their beliefs on others or of feeling superior to everyone else.
