Trying to understand why Republicans are so freaked out by what they call Socialism? How CAN a Christian say it doesn't matter that people can't earn a living or buy health care insurance? and that's the way it should be.
Interesting and provocative article here, doesn't seem very vindictive to me. Amongst other things this article reminded me of the importance that, at least mainline Protestant, Christians place on "salvation by faith alone". IOW, we are correct in saying that the Republicans believe they have whatever they have and others don't have whatever they don't have, by DIVINE will (and that's interesting for it's historical roots in the Continental Congress & also explains their tolerance for Slavery). AND one of the important aspects of Liberation Theology, as I understand it, is liberating one's self by one's actions, i.e. not just faith alone.
Mormon Bishop's Daughter Spills (some) of Rmoney's Secrets
http://www.wnd.com/2011/10/354721/
Earlier this week, WND posted a non-scientific, interactive poll in which readers were asked to sound off on Mormonism as a factor in the presidential race.
With more than 1,200 participants, the top response with 25 percent of the votes was, Because it denies divinity of Jesus and salvation by faith alone, it is a cult, and a Mormon candidate should never be elected president.
In second place with 19 percent was, If anyone doesnt appear to be a true Christian, its the current occupant of the White House.
Of course, that doesn't explain why they think if they lose what they have that wasn't divine will causing that. I would like to point out that that assumption is another instance of blasphemy.
Perhaps there has to be this kind of mindlessness to it, in order for it to be "God's will". . . ?
At any rate, the word "cult" appearing in this article might explain some of the activity we're seeing on this board and, then again, maybe not . . .
I don't know; the more I think about this whole construct, the crazier it gets.

(6,271 posts)Right there in the BOM's opening pages Joseph Smith refers to the Catholics with respectful terms like 'whore of Babylon' and the 'harlot that sits on seven hills.'
That doesn't come up much. Why? Could it be his (Biden's) unnaturally light skin tone? Can that what keeps Joe unscathed by the religious slurs?
Or is it (gasp) that Rmoney hopes he will get so many Catholic votes?
My Catholic friends, know what you are forgiving at the very least.

(47,992 posts)moral authority, don't you know, and the more who suffer for it, the more superior the claim to righteousness.
Love the Mass, but I don't go anymore. Can't identify with everything they have sacrificed to the lie called "Pro-Life", which is sad, because in its original form, as defined by Cardinal Bernardin, it WAS more authentic.
I'm more of a Liberation Theologist now and LT's aren't welcome in the RC Church. John XXIII was the last pope who spoke to me.
