You cant walk far in Ladakh without seeing something spiritual: bright white stupas (Buddhist relic-filled mounds), giant prayer wheels, multi-colored prayer flags and the occasional 80-foot golden Buddha dot the Himalayan landscape.
If the ancient monasteries and Buddhist murals dont move your spirit, then the dramatic natural beauty around them surely will.
So its hardly surprising that Leh, Ladakhs main city, has just been identified as one of two areas in India to become a mega-destination for spiritual and wellness tourism.
Along with Chitrakoot in Madhya Pradesh, Leh and its surrounds are the first to be designated for such development.
