Even Women Who Identify As Satanists And Atheists Protested Donald Trump

Shenequa Golding | January 22, 2017 - 10:07 am

There’s a long list of people and groups who vociferously opposed President Trump while he was on the campaign trail, and continued to do so when he took the oath of office Friday. (Jan. 20). The national Women’s March in Washington D.C, which spawned several demonstrations across the country, is just one example of the ire the president has merited. Yet, among the thousands of women who proudly took to the streets in protest of Trump were women from the Satanic Temple, a group of self-proclaimed atheists and satanists.

Footage captured Saturday (Jan. 21) showed a group of women wearing all black holding the Satanic Temple sign. As they walked down the street, one member introduced herself to a reporter and briefly explained why she, along with the rest of the Satanic Temple members, are opposed to Trump.

“He’s going to take most of our rights away. Not happy about that. We want to protect you,” she said.

A quick search of the Satanic Temple’s FAQ section, and one will find the religious sect doesn’t promote a personal belief in Satan, but rather “Satan is symbolic of the Eternal Rebel in opposition to arbitrary authority, forever defending personal sovereignty even in the face of insurmountable odds. Satan is an icon for the unbowed will of the unsilenced inquirer.”
