Iranian women look hip despite strict religious dress laws (Picture: Barcroft)
If youve ever been to Iran, youll know one hard and fast fact Iranian women are hip AF.
Since the Islamic Revolution in 1979, religious dress codes have been enforced in the country meaning women need to cover their hair, neck and arms in public.
But when he travelled to the country, French photographer Eric Lafforgue found that this wasnt stopping Iranian women pushing the boundaries to express themselves and look incredible.

(1,150 posts)Over the long haul, 'religious police' trying to enforce strict female dress codes in a society of well-educated people will just plain lose.
Iran is actually quite a cosmopolitan country, and women frequently challenge the religious police on matters of dress. And then a lot of mostly straight men have to face issues of passing judgement on women whose 'crime' is being beautiful and letting it show just a bit more than the law supposedly allows. Not a lot of women getting genuinely punished in Iran for that, and I should think it's not difficult to see why .
One way or another, if you are a Muslim, you must conclude that female beauty is a creation of Allah, and there is a distinct incongruity between this basic premise and the notion that it is so threatening and dangerous to social order that it must be carefully concealed from all except husbands and children.
Muslim women generally appreciate the fundamental notion of modesty prescribed by Islam, but they're still women and most like to feel beautiful. And men? The ones who aren't gay are certainly interested in seeing it, and the ones who are gay seem to appreciate it at least as much, for entirely different reasons (I won't pretend to understand how that works).
And I quite agree with ReRe - Persian beauty is, well, damn! (Any woman who might see this - I'm not being sexist, just an honest guy
