If I were a host, I would support that, regardless of the fact that every single candidate in both parties would likely be of one Christian sect or another.

But there is undoubtedly a huge difference between the parties on religion's place in society, and especially government. And I would like to see a discussion on this.

The issue invites the question:

If pretty much all the candidates of both parties are of some Christian sect, what is the difference? I think we all know the answer. But a respectful discussion might be constructive.

Best regards.

Each sect of Christianity varies on significant issues. Obviously candidates will have their own positions on issues, colored first by political affiliation, but their views may be partially, or completely informed by their religious views as well. Worth tracking the list.

I hope it gets pinned even though I am not sure of its value, given that it is ones interpretation of ones religion (and its relationship to society) which seems to trump which sect.

However, that too is an interesting topic.

And delete names when it becomes clear they aren't in the running.

Bernie Sanders: Jewish

Liz Warren: United Methodist Church

Sarah Palin: Nondenominational Christianity

Michelle Bachmann: Christian Dominionism

I would only add people who have officially launched a campaign. (I can certainly add Vermin Supreme and the other two indies, and probably will, why not)

...to have a list of previous candidates from previous elections with their particular persuasion?

To add a historical perspective.

To the Hosts, I too support bestowing "Pinned" status upon this thread.
