" Rick Warren's Not Willing To Call Mitt Romney a Christian"

Well, talk about another reason not to vote for Romney!

Gee, the pastor guy that thinks, (see video) that one only has the BELIEVE Jesus is his savior in order to get into heaven, (doesn't have to actually DO anything while alive - see video at link).

With Republican Mitt Romney moving closer to becoming the first Mormon presidential nominee, I asked Warren whether he believes Mormons are Christians — a contested issue among evangelicals.

“The key sticking point for evangelicals and actually for many is the issue of the Trinity… that’s the historic doctrine of the church that God is three-in-one,” Warren said. “Not three Gods; one God in Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Mormonism denies that.”

Ouch.

I don't see how Romney gets over that hurdle. The only hope I guess he has is to revive the whole Obama-is-a-Muslim trope to point to the only religious faction more horrifying to the evangelical voter.

1. Now, talk about planting a seed four years back....!!!!!!

I suppose that odious invitation to do an invocation is now, at long last, paying a bit of a dividend....!

2. Do you think that seed was planting for this purpose?

That would take a lot of foresight.

Or was that seed one of those presents you get in the garden when a bird shits?

4. Everyone knew Romney was going to try this time around.

He spent a fortune trying and failing last time, and he was learning from his mistakes.

Everyone knew he was the one with the money, that there were no credible superstars that looked likely four years back. The closest possibility was Palin, and she was busy as hell making a laughingstock of herself before Obama was even sworn in!

It wouldn't surprise me if he put the guy on the dais as a bit of a "side bet" who would come in handy at some point or another.

Now's the time for Warren to come in very handy, indeed. The GOP doesn't hesitate to use that "Ewwwwwwwww-MUSLIM!!!" card at every turn. I suppose the "Ewwwwwwwwwww-Not Christian!!!!" card is turnabout-fair-play! And the Democrats don't have to even play it!

The real beauty of all this is that Obama doesn't have to touch any of this with a forty foot pole. Far be it from him to chime in on the religious thoughts and beliefs of a well-respected pastor blah, blah, blah...!

3. the Trinity is the biggest pile of contorted bullshit in christianity.

odd then that it is the most essential component of Christianity.

Rick Warren is just afraid to admit that some of the tenets of Mormonism are pretty awesome: like Jesus and Satan being brothers, and getting your own planet to rule as a god when you croak.

5. Well, I think it's more down to playing to strength than actual concerns on the part of Rick Warren.

He has his base, they aren't going to be swayed by your or anyone else's arguments. He's invested in his belief set. It has done well by him over the years. He's well-fed and wealthy, and he has influence.

This is Warren's opportunity to be a player and a power broker, and he's using the language and beliefs that he has touted and his flock buys off on to be just that. That's what's happening here--not that he thinks Mormons are "cooler" or have "better" ideas.

7. Just last week, there were Republicans claiming Obama would attack Mitt's mormonism. . .

Obama will content himself with discussing Romney's "policies du jour." The Democrats won't have to address Romney's religion. Those attacks will come from people historically aligned with the Republican Party.

9. Evangelicals Have 2 Choice This Election - Both Bad in Their View

They can vote for the known Mormon or the suspected Muslim (in their eyes). No doubt some will sit out the election. Some will actually vote for Obama though and there was a recent poll showing his evangelical support twice what it was in 2008. Guess these are the evangelicals who know that he's not a Muslim.

he even used to be governator of Taxxachusetts! So John McCain might could probably be a stronger candidate!
