GARDEN GROVE, Calif. Dr. Robert Schuller and his wife, Arvella, announced "with great sadness" Saturday that they resigned from the board of directors of the Crystal Cathedral, the televangelist ministry he founded four decades ago and made famous through his "Hour of Power" television program."

(111,374 posts)Most of those megachurches were built to be more like concert venues than places to worship, IMO, the religious trappings a minor and very temporary part of the overall decor.
It would be lovely to see them turned into something useful like home bases for symphonies and theater or dance companies. They're really not bad venues for any of it.
I just wish we could get them off the airwaves, also, especially the hard core haters that seem to proliferate on local TV.
