http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/sports-nfl/20121210/20121210173258289700408/The 49ers made the announcement about two hours after coach Jim Harbaugh's news conference, but provided no explanation for why Jacobs had been disciplined. It is doubtful he would return for the playoffs.
Harbaugh declined to address Jacobs' comments, even when asked whether Jacobs was still on the team. He said he was invoking his "fifth amendment'' right.

(9,709 posts)He's an NFL coach, he needs the respect of his players..
And this kind of crap goes way too far:
"in a place where you hate your boss so much, you should always be happy at work''
This was the right move.

Jacobs is nice to have when you absolutely need a yard on fourth down.
Upton
(9,709 posts)but he had only 7 yards on 5 carries for the season. He had a chance against the Rams and didn't produce. While Dixon and James did on Sunday...
I'm not sure why he didn't play more, the knee injury in preseason obviously set him back. The 49ers coaches didn't feel he could contribute. No reason not to trust their judgement.
You can't expect a HC to put up with a RB who is about 4th on the depth chart, sending shots like this his way..
"Some people give the wrong person credit, this team win(s) because there is a lot of talent,"
Upton
(9,709 posts)It's a new Harbaughism

(78,249 posts)It was Harbaugh who invoked his "5th Amendment rights". I thought it was Jacobs, in which case he would have meant the First Amendment.
