So they are pitching my book proposal upstairs next week...

I am working with Storey publishing - they approached me to write a book on tomatoes - going to co-write it with my daughter (she was the first in the family to get a book published - http://www.amazon.com/Madagascar-Travel-Companion-Sara-LeHoullier/dp/0982261950/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1341157826&sr=1-1&keywords=sara+lehoullier . She can instill discipline in me when I lack it (which happens on occasion!)....and also help with research. Also she's been through this already.

I worked with the editor that approached me to get a well worked out TOC - it went through the first hoop fine - and how it is pitch time to secure the contract - they tell me I will get one year to write it....

For those who've been through this, what can I expect? Risks/challenges? Frustrations? And what to expect if it all works out and it gets published?

Expect risks, challenges, and frustrations along the way, but enjoy yourself and have fun! Expect to do a lot of work signing, speaking, etc., to get the book launched and moving off the shelves. Best of luck to you!

I just read the chapter on contracts in the Writer's Market book. Only three or so pages. You can go to the library and get the 2012 version and just read the two chapters on the subject. Some really good advice. The 2013 version is almost ready to come out.
