Just Had My First Ever Post Hidden

Late last night, I posted a YouTube video in V&M called "Criminals Gone Wild UNCUT". Somebody alerted on it, saying that it was "out-right racist", and the jury voted 5-1 to hide it. I don't understand at all how that video was "racist", and my intent of posting it was not racial. All the video was about was showing a few crimes happening live and unscripted, and providing the perspectives of the people in the video on why they chose a life of crime. That's it.
At the risk of sounding biased about my own post, I have to say that the jury dropped the ball on this one.

lol. Just kidding. I actually have had 2 hidden in the last 90-days but none prior too that. I guess the jury is a bit more strict these days.

JURY RESULTS

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Mon Feb 17, 2014, 03:13 AM, and the Jury voted 5-1 to HIDE IT.

Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: This video has been out for a while. I don't think the person who produced it is racist, but it does promote racist stereotypes and it's fake besides. It seems over-the-top and I'm voting to hide it for that reason.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given

Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

I was Juror #2. The results didn't surprise me. Better luck next time.

It was a long time ago, but it stung.

There is one person here, who am am almost certain is a troll. Not everyone agrees with me. I challenge her posts. She is good at snark and sarcasm with everyone else, but the minute you answer her back, she bawls loudly and alerts. She is so skilled at using the rules here, that I am almost certain she has had professional troll training.

Don't worry. If your intentions here are good, you will be fine. A few nut cases slip in, especially at primary time. Live and learn, and have a good time learning and sharing at DU.

and the vast majority of the criminals were black. However, 100% of the criminals were poor and that was the most unfair thing of all.

I'm not afraid of the neighborhood thugs. They can be bought off with the cash in my pocket, usually $20 or less. It's the guys in the three piece suits and designer shoes who have always ripped me off by depressing my wages, probably to the tune of nearly a million bucks over my working lifetime.

Should your post have been hidden? Hell no, it was instructive, the "bad" guys telling the filmmaker that they'd worked jobs, been paid starvation wages, and gotten nowhere. There is a hell of a lot of that going around.

I just wanted to reach through the screen and shake some sense into them, let them know that crimes against the rich would pay a hell of a lot better, that as long as they continued to prey on people in their own neighborhood, they were going to stay poor.

I'm sorry your post was hidden. I certainly wouldn't have voted to hide had i been on the jury.

For some reason, many of them like to find victims in low-income areas. It makes no sense to me.

seeing Black folks talking about crime (whether the crimes or the interviews were stage, or not) makes people uncomfortable.

I do not/did not find the film to be racist ... But I could see how it could be used to perpetuate racial stereotypes with that small minded minority that would believe that all Black folks (and the occasional white) are criminals.

But the fact is, there ARE Black folks that live the criminal life ... they are far out numbered by those Black males that proudly live the square life; but there are criminals none the less.

But that said, people should REALLY listen to what these folks are saying ... They are disenfranchised, feel shut out and see no real alternative survival options.

40 years of American myth building, built these desperate souls.

and this was the main reason why I posted it. Maybe it was a mistake on my part to not anticipate some alert-happy DUers and to not state the reason why I posted the video.

views of our community, not to mention a lot of youngsters of Spike Lee ability (w/out the education.) Their subject matter is raw and reflects an unvarnished look at black life in it's entirety. And, I think that actually offends some of our white brethren, because of the guilt it evokes and desire to look the other way. That Jamal was unlucky to find 5 of these folks at one place and time probably says something even bigger to me.
Subconscious (societal) racism has a way of showing itself when truth is told. Passive racism reacts to anything that may assign guilt . Denial sees nothing and would prefer that others don't , as well.
We have yet to overcome...but the process continues.
