"We are going to be deleting some DU Groups. And we need your help to figure out which ones."

Skinner has updated this announcement to remind us that "we want to clear out some the 'dead wood' -- unused and under-used groups that clutter up the site and make it harder to find the more active groups.

I think there are good reasons for keeping the Veterans Forum even if it is one of the less-active groups. But we may risk losing it if we don't get up to speed quickly in posting here.

I don't think the community groups are going to be so easily deleted, but that doesn't mean they're off the chopping block. More likely, consolidation will be the outcome for less-populated community groups, and topical groups will be more likely to get the axe. But dead community groups will wither and die, so we've got to make sure we're actively posting and commenting. And I'll be on the lookout for articles and stuff to share here.

I'm a service connected disabled veteran (Life member - DAV) and just discovered this forum. I'd hate to see it go now that I've found it. Vets and Vet supporters need each other!

I can't claim to be an active member, as I attended only one meeting, when I signed up, and never went back. But I still have the old brass Life Member card.

I tended to avoid the old mainstream vets' orgs (I admit to referring to them as the 'hat people' ), though I've also held a VFW annual membership several times.

For me, the one group I've stuck with is Vietnam Veterans of America (also a Life Member of VVA) because of the work they do not only for VN vets, but also for all those who have followed, and for their other community service work.

Don't worry about this group going away. A group would have to be really moribund to be axed here, and and I'm sure the admins recognize that there are other important reasons for keeping this group, even when it's slow.

And having new members like you find their way here helps to keep us going strong.

Again, welcome to our group!

I starting working (the job literally fell into my lap) 4.2.2012 and am now gainfully employed Monday thru Friday.

Work really cuts down on my internets time.
