2. Blame is stupid and wastes time.

One assigns blame when we are trying to punish someone. One cannot "punish" an abstract concept like a religions.

However, it's also stupid to deny that Islam was a contributing factor in this shooting.

Religion is often a contributing to these kind of events. And some religions lend themselves to violence more than others.

3. I Have to Say

I've been to hundreds of evangelical services and do not ever remember hearing an anti-gay sermon. This despite the fact that the behavior was universally considered against the ten commandments. It's generally not what it's about. Not doubting the existence of these groups, but I don't believe most evangelicals personally come into contact with them.
