Why isn't there a "military members" thread?

Military members are a significant size common interest group. So why not a file forum for military members?

Or should it just generically go under “national security”?

Because these days I see the two aren’t necessarily aligned, so maybe it would be better to divide the forums? .

Or maybe “veterans” and “military members “ should be one group.

Your thoughts?

3. I think it is a good idea. Why don't you start a military members thread?

Can military brats post there too?
Or are we still a pain in the rump?

4. It would be helpful and especially for VA related issues.

I'm a former Navy diver and had about 10-15 of my retired MAGA divers in my Fake Book battling with them sometimes daily hitting them with truth bombs mostly copied from here and Drudge with refs. as needed, and since Big Daddy is gone, they have faded away and now a few of my Dem retired divers keep the truth stream going countering Fox and other Wing Nut propaganda.

Some of them have unfriended me over the years and I really don't care. I invited two of the loudest magas to the gym, one to only tell me to come over his house in my city and see his toys. I asked him if he had the one with the screw on dildo on the end. Saw one at the reunion live and in person pretending nothing happened online!

So, yeah it would be cool to share Veteran notes, positions on topics, Vet healthcare and a place to muster! Vets have a higher rate of suicide too and maybe would be a good check in point for people to communicate with.

I don't have time to monitor it but it's a good idea!

Thank You for your service!

rates of depression and suicide among vets. The military group could share VA resources for mental health issues.

I never served in the military, but my dad flew (USAF) combat in three wars. My mother was an AF nurse during the Korean War.

We were stationed overseas during the VN war. It is a big chunk of my life and I miss it. The military is a unique lifestyle unlike anything in civilian life.

I have a big interest in WWII and other branches of the military, not just the Air Force. I love the Navy, read a lot of about it.

At any rate, I have been hoping to see a military forum here on DU.

Pretty cool Your Mom and Dad were in the AF! And you dad! Three wars! Damn!

My Grandfather was Army Air Corps before AF. He had some air combat and was awarded 5 Bronze Service Stars one with the air combat. He was with the First Emergency Air Rescue Squadron, for forerunner of the PJs.

There! We can share Sea Stories too on a Veteran forum!

7. That is so neat. My dad was in the Army Air Corps too before it

changed to the Air Force. My dad had a load of medals all stashed in a big drawer. He flew combat in WWII (Burma Hump), Korea and Viet Nam.

My uncle was in the Navy during WWII and was killed on the USS Meredith in the Battle of Guadalcanal.

That is neat about the Emergency Air Rescue. Where was he stationed? What kind of work did he do? From what I have heard, Emergency Rescue can be quite dangerous? I never knew anyone from this kind of squadron, it sounds really neat.
Do they fly helicopters or larger planes?

My dad flew fighters, air refuellers, cargo, reconnaissance.

Right we can share stories too! We already started the military group....

Thank you!

His record said he was an expert 30 cal. but not a 50 cal side gun. His MOS was aircraft metal worker or something like that.

My dad always said it was the ground crew mechanics who kept the planes in the air.
