My cats stomach is contracting as he breathes and he's lost weight

He's also been lethargic and falling asleep while sitting.

He shows no signs of pain either.

What is wrong with my cat? Please help. This has been happening for three days now.

Cats are very good at hiding being ill, so it's common not to know something is wrong until they are very sick.

My Jennings was very sick a couple months ago. In a multi-cat household like mine, it can be very hard to make sure everyone is eating and to know whose stool doesn't look right. By the time I realized he was sick, he completely stopped eating. That is dangerous in cats because when they lose weight quickly, it can lead to liver failure.

Anyway, my Jennings was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. He is on prednisolone, which I get from a compounding vet pharmacy. They put it in a chicken-flavored liquid, and he doesn't mind it at all. Since being on pred, he started eating right away, put on weight, and has his energy back.

I understand how awful it feels when your fur baby is sick. I hope you get some answers at the vet.

Cats eat a lot of their outside kill or chew on it. They get worms or parasites.

It's a symptom of congestive heart failure. CHF can be treated. Get to the vet.
