I just love that kooky ear that stands up so often on Rocko, and Max has such a pretty brindle coat though his brindle markings aren't all over... I like the partial brindle coat even better. I've never seen a brindle doggie that had only some parts of them with those markings. I think it looks really cool.

When I first posted about my neighbors getting Rocko I thought they named him Rocky, but I have since figured out that his name is actually Rocko. At least I'm fairly certain that it is. Man, I'm going to have to clear this up once and for all. Not that it matters really since I'm always calling him stuff like puppy-pie, sweetie-poo, sweet cheeks, and all manner of ridiculous embarrassing baby talk names.

This was the first time the neighbor doggies were in the yard and not flying all over the place climbing all over each other. They had just woken up though (they like to sleep in every day generally missing mornings entirely).

Max's bum shot reveals that he has been neutered, but are Rocko/y and Yoshi, too? I'm just wondering if there's much fence scrapping going on...
My naughty girl, Sally, shares, but doesn't want to share, a wooden fence across our back yard. One of the boards was held in by strips of wood at top and bottom, but could move sideways either way. Sally and our male English Bull Terrier neighbor would start scrapping, barking and snapping at each other at the slot in the fence. A week or so later I took this photo of the little guy, who's very friendly with people, through a knot hole in his side fence.

Funny thing is, the last dog in that yard, who lived with another couple who moved out, bit my old dog Billie-girl's nose when she stuck it in that same knot hole to sniff!

LOL! Yoshi had to be neutered by contract (and I would have done it anyway since no dog who isn't for breeding purposes should have their reporductive bits), and both Max and Rocko came from the shelter where they aren't allowed to be adopted without having to donate their er... family jewels.

Actually, the three of them are all perverts with each other. Max is even still a bit jealous when Rocko does tongue kissing with Yoshi or they rub their sides together, pushes Rocko away and does whatever Rocko and Yoshi were doing (tongue kissing or side rubbing). They're all out there right now doing their pervert bit... I recognize the lovey dovey noises they make and can hear them through the window.

Yoshi also does the tongue kissing bit with the little Shitzu next door on the other side (also a neutered male). There's a tall wood fence there, but they have a high back porch where there's wood lattice work so the little guy can't fall into my yard where there's a spot where part of it broke off so, there's a hole that Yoshi can get most of his face through, and they do that little tongue action bit. The little guy is an indoor type of guy, so he only comes outside through his doggie door to go to the bathroom, stops to do the tongue action with Yoshi then runs right back in the house.

I feel sorry for the female greyhound mix next to Max and Rocko's yard because since Rocko joined the family it's one big male party now, and none of them give her so much as the time of day anymore.

What a sweet girl is Billy-girl even with her nose boo-boo! Actually, right after they got Rocko I noticed that Yoshi had a bitty little scrape just under one nostril and was afraid that he and Rocko weren't getting on, but it turned out that there's one spot of the chainlink fence that has a rough patch and it just so happens it was that spot they were at the fence squishing their noses together and doing kissy-poo. That once spot looks like the chainlink isn't twisted quite right. I wrapped that rough spot up with electrical tape, and he's fine now though they still seem to like to use that same spot to do their good night kissing when Rocko and Max have their last run of the yard before bedtime.

I didn't really expect this lovey dovey stuff with them. When Bubba the big Bull Mastiff used to live next door Yoshi and he were playmates (with Yoshi doing most of the playing since Bubba was the laziest blob of a dog, and his idea of playing was to stand there imobile and be played with) but they never did perverted stuff like all this rubbing and tongue kissing. When ever they do it I feel like I should be averting my eyes or telling them to get a room.

"Teko", who our dog Sally used to scrap with, and Sally gave him those stripes on his "shpin"* with her incisors through the slot between the fence boards. Fortunately all healed now!
*(When I was a kid I made up a name for the spot on a dog's nose where the fleshy bare part ends and the fur covered muzzle begins. I used to kiss my family's standard poodle on that spot, where there's a little whorl - I called it the "shpin.&quot

Billie-girl died in 2002, when she was 13, and we adopted Sally from the SPCA two months later. Sally is 14 now, and can't hear, so she doesn't bother Teko anymore. She does bark sometimes at the two girl dogs next door when she sees their shadows flickering behind the narrow slots in the wooden fence, or tries to peer over the fence at them from the raised back porch.

I'd say it's much more pleasant to have dogs be lovey-dovey with neighbor dogs, than to have scrapping/barking sessions that have to be broken up!
