(6,011 posts)I especially liked the oil-spill-absorbing booms made of cat, dog, and human hair stuffed into old pantyhose.
I have a friend who spins wool , and she told me medium length dog or cat hair can be spun with wool into yarn if the pet hair fibers aren't long enough to hold together.

(11,065 posts)I want a sweater made out of it so that when he's gone I have something of him left to feel wrapped up in. I wish I thought to do this with my previous dogs, but I didn't know then that there are people that can make yarn out of animal fur. I can't knit, but my sister has always been really good at that, and I'd pay her to make the sweater.

(34,136 posts)I never thought about using dog or cat hair as well. Would love to spin but think that might be a little tricky as far as incorporating but felting would be perfect!
I just did my very first felting project using store bought felt. It is really fun. Only one of my dogs sheds but the other two are standard poodles and I clip them myself. I bet I could use their hair.
Eridani, I had yet to even think of this. Thank you for this thread.
