(14,733 posts)1. I picked up some a week or two back at the store
and used an old package of 'flower food' stuff (light yellow rectangular packaging) that had been sitting on the windowsill for a year or two, and damned if the roses didn't massively bloom out, opening up more than any roses I've ever either grown or bought. I'm vaguely assuming it was the food, but I'd thrown away the packaging, so I don't know what the brand might have been.

I bought this fully established plant a couple of months ago, planted it in a large container, fed it with Jobes fertilizer spikes for roses, and have been watering it. Its in a spot that gets a lot of wind on windy days, but it seems to be doing well. I think I'll move it around the corner, out of the wind, for winter.
