Sorry for my sparse replies lately. I have just been getting a lot of rest and staying off the computer. The joint issues get worse if I spend much time bunched up in my office chair. A lot of things I have been trying, like the cherry concentrate and my juicing do help, but all this wet weather has really ramped up the pain.
I am eating very lightly, and haven't really been having formal meals lately. I just nibble on something when I am hungry. We had a neighbor over for Chinese food last night, and I did have one of Bill's great eggrolls. The boy can cook Chinese food.
No idea what I'll have tonight. Bill will be working. I may have a slice of pizza, or possibly an omelette.
I haven't had eggs in a few days and a nice dilly cheesy omelette sounds yummy!
What's for dinner where you are?

(106,886 posts)Today's a loll around the house day, so it's comfort food time.
Your omelette sounds good - eggs, one of the great food "packages", along with bananas, avocados, etc.

(12,253 posts)Mr. Pup is taking me out for dinner at Harper's, a locavore restaurant that serves my favorite indulgences. I love their duck rilettes or pork pate, both plates served with a small salad, toasted baguette, and their house-pickled cornichon and baby carrots and radishes. They also serve potatoes roasted in duck fat (oh, bliss!), veal ravioli, and lots of choices all made with tippy top ingredients...mmm, all very artisanal. Monday through Thursday their house cocktails are half price, all sophisticated drinks made with house-made syrups and bitters. Best of all, it's within walking distance! The worst possible trouble I can get into is singing too loudly on the way home. It's going to be a happy one!

(12,253 posts)I grazed on appetizers at the bar and tried the newest cocktail on the drink menu: The Rise of Spring. It was a combination of chamomile syrup, gin, Navan vanilla liqueur, and tangerine juice. A little sweet, but delicious. My dinner was fried baby artichokes, duck fat roasted potatoes and a dish of duck rillettes with frisse salad, and pickled baby veggies. I shared the artichokes and duck fries with Mr. Pup, who had a pasta entree of roasted cauliflower and red pepper over house-made linguini. We were home by 9PM, well fed, very satisfied, and full of smiles.

(16,334 posts)That drink sounds like something I'd like, too.
Glad it was everything you looked forward to!

(12,253 posts)Mr. Pup tried a cocktail that I have ordered in the past, the British Invasion...gin, Pimms Cup, fresh cucumber juice and a little hit of something else, but danged if I can remember it now. They go out of their way to be creative at this place, although cocktails are no longer half priced! $12/per! Lucky it was my birthday! The bartender bought my second drink!

Enjoy your evening and drink something really special.

(12,253 posts)and Harper's cocktails are really special. I like the Siamese breeze made with ginger syrup and lime and the British Invasion with gin, Pimms Cup, and grapefruit bitters. They make syrups out of everything! Mint, red pepper, orange, lavender. Even though the possibilities are large, I stick to a two-drink maximum. After two drink, I do feel like singing, but I can still walk home.

(16,334 posts)Been married 20 years today and we are going out to lunch instead of dinner. I said in the lounge, due to kids stuff and my early bedtime, lunch works out better.
Plus, I made an announcement last night that it is TOO damn HOT to cook and I was moving toward a cold meal menu. So there!
Lucinda, thanks for the update. Hope you feel better!

Hope you continue to feel better and that your appetite picks up.
As a fellow foodie, I hate it when illness steals my appetite.

(135,060 posts)only grilling 2 slabs today, hope T-man doesn't have a tantrum. Have red beans and rice going but not sure it'll be ready in the next 40 by the time the ribs are done. So probably just corn on the cob and fries for the kids and I'll wait and red beans and cole slaw.
Hopefully you have nice weather coming you way and you'll get some relief.

(47,675 posts)I won't be hungry.
Sometimes I just don't want to eat. I eat when I'm hungry. I don't snack much. It keeps me lean.
What I really want is a stuffed zucchini, but I'm not getting one of those for a few months.
