For those cooking for the big day, whatcha making?

As my gift to my bff and her family, I am making Christmas day dinner.

We are having, ham, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, sautéed green beans with bacon, salad with berries, and chocolate cheesecake. I've also made cranberry sauce (because I love it ) and gravy for the potatoes. My friends daughter is a vegetarian so I've made veggie lasagna for her.

I hope you enjoy your day and family. If like me, you don't have family, make one out of the friends you have, it's so much better than sitting at home.

1. Merry Christmas!

We too are without family and will be going to a neighbor's for lunch. My husband is making the dinner rolls. Not sure what else we're having but I know the company will be great. Your feast sounds yummy...enjoy

2. brisket and potato kugel

bagels and lox for breakfast. we celebrate jewmas

3. Beef Tenderloin with lots of fixin's

We are going to my son's house and he is roasting a big beef tenderloin, making some sautéed mushrooms, green beans and a salad. plus a little horseradish for the meat. I am getting ready to go to the kitchen to make some old fashioned twice baked potatoes and a big deep dish cherry cobbler for tomorrow. Son has bought some Blue Bell homemade vanilla ice cream to top the cobbler. Granddaughter, who is a great cook already, will be bringing another dessert. Best of all is being with family and friends and getting to see my sweet little great-granddaughter.

Everyone have a wonderful holiday and know that you are blessed to be here on this sweet earth.

One other thing ... I lived in Alaska for many years and a white Christmas is grossly over-rated. Give me a warm 70 degree Christmas day!

4. 3 adults and two kids

we are having standing rib roast, this roasted brussel sprout thing with bacon and a touch of pesto, tillamook chedder purple fingerling potato au gratin, this thing with crimini mushrooms and brie in pastry cups. And an egg custard pie. Having typed that out it sounds pretty rich, better think that through.

5. Turkey. I love turkey, it's not hard to fix

and my oldest son is visiting me, so we're doing a full-on turkey dinner: stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, sweet potatoes. It'll be fabulous.

6. We had our family gathering yesterday. Turkey breast/dressing, ham, mashed potatoes

braised red cabbage w/apples, steamed broccoli, corn (from the garden & frozen), tomato salad, cranberry relish, dinner rolls, Christmas treats made by SIL and niece.

We'll probably just have soup and turkey sandwiches today.

7. Very easy dishes here.

All the dishes were requested by the diners: ham, mashed potatoes, fresh garden broccoli, steamed squash, bean-corn-avocado salad, bread with seasoned olive oil dip, and peanut butter pie (a new recipe but a smash hit with everyone)!
